Horrible things aren’t so bad when you realize how good you have it.

When I was a kid, there were only three channels, and you had to change them by getting up out of the chair and turning a dial!!!!!

His penpal must be a girl, because that seems like way too much work for that letter to be from a boy. How did she ever find the time to also cook, wash clothes, and clean the cabin?

And you had to keep turning the rabbit ears on top of the set when you changed channels.

In 1969 We had AM & FM Radio and B&W Television with 4 Channels CBS NBC ABC and ch 4 the independent. But we had a space program, I watched the Moon landing on CBS. What is this WiFi stuff anyway?

When we moved into the last house where the whole family was still together, the instant I saw a Antenna Rotor sitting in a corner of the Living Room, I hooked up my little B&W TV and proceeded to find out what stations I could get, leaving the rest of the family to lug stuff in. Unfortunately, some years later, a storm destroyed the Antenna Tower and dad never replaced it. Goodbye all my non-local stations!

HA! Kids these days. When I was your age we didn’t have wifi. If you wanted internet then you better make sure no one was using the phone

Tell him how much you pay for a doctor’s visit, or for pharmaceuticals. Tell him how far your house is from the nearest farm.

First you’d have to explain what W-Fi is, and what it is used for (opening up an even bigger can of worms)…

Pretty much everything on our TV had to be adjusted by hand. I was the only one who could get the focus set, I knew the exact spot on the back of the tv to gently slap. (besides also being the channel changer and station finder on the antenna). Dad set up our TV on the porch roof and I could jiggle the wires to get the second station. Then the wires broke… But the Rabbit ears worked still with some 5 minutes of adjusting and a lot of snow.

In the 1800s people had a lot of problems but boredom was not one of them.

Yeah, how can you top that.

Today I rose at 4 a.m.,

so I went back to sleep because I needed another 4 hours of sleep.

Hardship!!

Children on the farm are free labor. In the city, they’re movable furniture.

The pen pal may not even be complaining. I might actually prefer his life.

If one counts PBS, we had 4 channels on our 12 channel capable TV.
