There is a reason chip bags contain so much air, the nitrogen in your chips protects them by keeping the bag inflated around them, as long as the bag is sealed.

The guy that caused the highest inflation in 40 years is criticizing the food manufactures for doing all they can to keep their costs down for the folks? Joe, you idiot, this is 100% your fault. The food business works on some of the smallest margins and there is competition on every category. There is no room for “excessive profits”. It’s on you Joe and the dumbocrats that support you.

Why do we have shrinkflation? Since 2020, we’ve seen consumer prices in the official data rise by 21 percent or so. But producer prices are up over the same period by 34 percent or so. This gap still needs to be closed. Anyone with a basic understanding of economics knows this. That is happening with consumer prices now. Biden and others seem to think companies should just eat that gap of 13%.

Sellers at every stage of production must find ways to make the accounting work. They are doing this with cuts in management costs, hidden fees, and shrinkflation but also with old-fashioned price increases.

In fact, companies have been eating that gap mentioned above, but they will not absorb all of it. Hence, higher prices, shrinkflation, etc. Of course, the Biden administration blames everyone else and accepts no responsibility for any of this.

And inflation is back! Really, is this what we want the President of the United States working on? Doesn’t his Sec. of the Treasury have an assistant to an assistant who can do that.

Ignore everything the addled brained President says. Like his outrage that Hur asked him about his son’s date of death. Never happened. Hur never asked about his son. Biden brought the topic up on his own and then failed to remember the date.

But he uses outrage to gain sympathy. So now he blames companies for shrinkflation rather than speak the truth – it his policies that brought us here.

I have been buying the same brand of white cotton socks for at least 30 years. The most recent package turns out to be almost an inch shorter than the older socks. Shrinkflation is every where.

I may be naive, but I still think that the REAL problem is that Joe doesn’t have anyone that will work with him chiefly because the majority of the folks on Capital Hill still have their lips poked out because former Moron #1 didn’t get reelected!

Bought a new stove/oven for the first time in 30 years. When they finished installing it, I asked where the instruction manual was. They said they don’t provide one anymore and that I had to go online and download a PDF. This is another example of companies increasing the bottom line by dumping on the consumer. It does not matter who is in the Whitehouse or in control of Congress. If a company can save a few pennies at the customer’s expense, they’ll do it.

Joe is loosing it. No, he has lost it. Must be all those brain freezes from licking ice cream. Shrinkage is nothing new. The size of an ice cream carton went from a half-gallon (2 quarts) carton to a 1.5 quart size before he was elected president. The changed was started by Breyer’s. (The Consumerist, March 21, 2008)

Making smaller sizes to keep retail food prices stable has been common for years. The problem is still inflation. It just makes it less visible.

Here’s how the United States has fared since President Joe Biden took office three years ago:The economy added more than 14 million jobs. The number is now nearly 4.9 million higher than before the pandemic. The unemployment rate dropped back to just above the pre-pandemic low; unfilled job openings again outnumber unemployed job seekers.Inflation spiked to the highest level in over 40 years. Despite recent moderation, consumer prices are up nearly 18% overall during Biden’s time. Gasoline is up 29%.Average weekly earnings haven’t kept pace with prices. After adjusting for inflation, “real” weekly earnings declined 3.4%.Defying expectations, the nation’s economy expanded 2.5% in 2023, marking the third straight year of economic growth.Crime data show a decrease in murders in U.S. cities in 2022 and 2023.The S&P 500 has increased 28.2%.The number of apprehensions of those trying to cross the southern border illegally remains near historical highs. For the 12 months ending in November, apprehensions are up 296%.For the third straight year, gun purchases declined, as measured by background checks for firearm sales.Crude oil production is up 12.7%; imports are up 8.7%.The trade deficit for goods and services is about 20.9% higher. The number of people without health insurance has gone down; enrollment in Affordable Care Act marketplace plans is at its highest point yet.The number of people receiving federal food assistance has declined by more than 700,000.The publicly held debt has increased by about 24.7%.www factcheck org/2024/01/bidens-numbers-january-2024-update/

It is dishonest to pretend that the president has control over prices or portions. That sort of thing is the result of the actions of a lot of people, corporations, other countries, etc. However, we persist, as in this cartoon, in advancing this notion. The above is just to point out that at this particular point in the charade, Democrats are winning.

On this side of the fence we experienced that when we went metric, instead of a dozen it’s 10 for the same price. But now that we are used to that we get shrinkage.. the same price but less product. One less onion ring.. a few less french fries and a smaller meat pattie on my bun.

US election 2024: Putin says he prefers Joe Biden over Donald Trump in the White House

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said he would rather a Joe Biden presidency over Donald Trump ahead of the US election this November.

Mr Biden was the more experienced, predictable person, he said in remarks sure to raise eyebrows.

Mr Biden has been a fierce critic of Mr Putin for years, calling him a “killer” before the invasion of Ukraine.

The Russian president also remarked on his recent interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson, saying he had found it disappointing because the questions had not been sharp enough.

He dismissed questions about Mr Biden’s age and mental health, and said when they had last met in 2021, he had not noticed anything peculiar.“Even then [three years ago] people were saying that he was incompetent, but I did not see anything of this sort,” he said.“Yes, he kept looking at his papers, but to be honest I kept doing the same. So there was nothing peculiar.”

Just read all the replies and no one seems to have noticed that shrinkflation is a result of an increase in the cost of items. Do YOU print money? Do corporations print money? Probably NO in both cases. When I used to pick up a can of coffee it was a one pound can for a certain price. When the cost of coffee increases that means that one pound can must be priced higher…people complain…so to ‘fool’ the buyer the contents are down-sized and the price for a can stays the same. Don’t blame the corporations. Don’t blame Trump (BTW FJB). This has been going on for a LONG time.
