And she’ll type out that “angry” email in "cursive " language.

I still write in script but that’s because I have very good handwriting.

There is one good thing to come out of this, parents can write things down in cursive and the kids won’t be able to read it.

She has to, if she wrote in cursive they wouldn’t understand it.

I never got what was so great about cursive writing when I was in school in the 1980’s. I figure work on basic reading and writing comprehension should be the priority.

Not teaching you how to write cursive is the same as not teaching you how to read it!

Cursive writing: the bane of genealogists everywhere. My ancestors’ names have been spelled, or deciphered, so many ways due to the various census recorders.

I’m 71. I learned cursive well enough to get through to the next grade and never used it again.

In the 1st and 2nd grade our spelling books had the words we were supposed to learn printed in italics. I knew one girl who was able to print those spelling words beautifully in italics. I was tempted to tell her she didn’t need to do that, but fortunately kept my mouth shut and didn’t make any attempt toward discourging her. As an adult, she used her calligraphy talent working at a local engineering company, likely doing lettering for their blueprints.
