Ramirez conflates Biden’s plans for the future with musk’s current failures. Maybe Ramirez would have been against cars for the more tried and true horses back in the early 1900’s.
To the extent that EV’s are available as a free choice to the buying public, I see no problem. Forcing the entire automotive industry to warp itself into making them the only choice is fascist and an obvious loss of freedom.
Does Ramirez use horses or oxen to pull his wagon? He appears to think technological advances are a bad thing because they aren’t instantaneous. Gasoline vehicles have taken over 100 years to develop! Electric is the future and might take 20-30 more years to be perfected.
I am anxiously waiting for President Biden to replace his Corvette and “The Beast” presidential limo with an EV. The industry would appreciate a leader who is a “do as I do” kind of guy instead of “do as I say.”
EV sales are in the toilet, manufactures are slowing the production on EV as the public has shown they will not buy them. Politicians demands will not make folks buy EVs
It’s a plan that’s going to take years to implement. Can you imagine that? A leader who makes plans that won’t have fruition until after he’s out of office. Amazing.
From wood to stone to copper to bronze to steel, from wood to coal to steam to hydrocarbons to hydrothermal to solar to wind to battery to tidal or geothermal, from foot to hoof to rail, wing, or tire; all advances in efficiency have had their growing pains and short-sighted self-serving detractors. Ho hum.
Electric van manufacturer Canoo announced a highly visible deal with the United States Postal Service (USPS), which will see the USPS acquire a handful of right-hand drive versions of the company’s LDV 190 delivery van.
Canoo announced that the USPS will purchase six (6) battery-electric Canoo vehicles. In its official press release, the company said that it was “honored” to participate in the post office’s evaluation of potential suppliers as the USPS moves towards the “groundbreaking electrification and modernization” of its national delivery fleet.

The transition from petroleum to electric vehicles is just beginning and we should anticipate leaps and bounds, reversals and failures, and then a tipping point over which industries and transportation networks are forever altered.
When we made the transition from horses to petroleum, there were many different technologies attempted for “horseless carriages”, including coal, gasoline, electricity and even hybrid. Many of the small businessmen who were building horse carriages attempted to build horseless carriages, though the engines and transmissions were a more difficult challenge. Saddlemakers took on seats and steering wheels. Wheelmakers could try to up their game. While all of this innovation was occurring the supply and distribution network was experiencing its own growth challenges.
So…when we see some bet fail, some business take a hit because their bet was wrong, or wrongly timed, do not be shocked. We have a long way to go. Let’s call 2015 the start of this cycle, so we’re 10 years into a 20 or 30 year process. We need significant investment in storage and supply and distribution. We need improvement in vehicle range, quick charging, and safety. Enjoy the ride!

We should stop giving the Luddites a platform lest we get more of this BS.

Leftist logic:
Trained U.S. adults mining coal with modern technology under MSHA & OSHA regulations = BAD
Children in the DRC mining cobalt by hand for $1.20/day in hazardous mines for Chinese EV batteries = GOOD

That’s right, Mr. Ramirez — leave the world-wide ever-increasing EV market to the Chinese so that Trump, if elected, can bring us back to the 1950s.
