No offense, but maybe this Plugger would do better to use a tarp as a napkin, one corner tucked into his shirt collar.

Thought Pluggers tucked their napkin into the neck opening of their shirt.

It would spend less time on the floor if you actually had a lap to put it in. We didn’t have napkins at our house when I was growing up. Not even paper ones. So I never got into the habit of using them. When we eat out, I’ll put mine on my lap to be just like everyone else, but it’ll hit the floor whenever I stand up because I forget it’s there. Happens every time.

Put it next to your plate. He doesn’t have a lap.

Real pluggers don’t use napkins. They wear patterned shirts use their fingers to blow the nose and wipe their hands on anything handy.

Even when it is just us for various holidays I set the table in the dining room with good china, silverware, wine glasses (for our soda – we don’t drink wine and he only has a alcoholic drink rarely – probably not in 10 years or more), fabric tablecloth and napkin (that’s as in my napkin – he insists on a paper one), etc.

His family never did this. The dining room, living room, and good dishes were for display only – never used. My family always used these rooms for company and holidays. He still will ask “do we have to use the good stuff?” when it is a holiday and I set the table.
