Cartoon logic and physics vary in every comic strip. Snoopy is like Bugs Bunny; he can be, or do, anything.

Nice job, Sally. Milhouse, you’re next.

Milhouse: “Uhh, I have a horsey. ‘Neigh! Neigh. Nehhh…’”

    Nelson: “WUSS!”

The Snoopy copter reminds me of those toy rubber band airplanes that you could wind up & toss into the air.

I checked out the thrust to weight ratio of a beagle. Too much weight, not enough coal. That puppy ain’t gonna fly.

I have read this strip before and there are three things I never really noticed. Maybe the addition of color brought these to my attention:

    1. Panel One: Sally has her hands over Woodstock’s beak to put an end to his rambling.

    2. Panel Two: Woodstock exits in his usual upside-down manner.

    3. Panel Four: Woodstock waves good-bye to the class as he flies off into the horizon.

These subtle touches make this even funnier. This story arc is one of the few examples of Schulz moving into the territory of extreme absurdist humor.

Did the Nam pilot salute in the last panel? I am curious if that would be a Bell Huey helicopter if the pilot served in the Vietnam War? Lol

In grade school we had a day each year where people of various professions would come in and groups of about 15 kids would shuttle around to ones they selected for a half hour. One guy that would come each year was a helicopter pilot, and three kids from each half hour slot got to go for a flight (selected in advance so you could have your parents sign a permission slip). I signed up each year, hoping to get picked in that group of three. Finally in fourth grade I won the lottery, I still remember the flight.

I’m sure that the Saigon airlift influenced the last 10 or so strips as it occurred only a couple of years prior to this strip’s release date.
