New House Speaker Mike Johnson is such a hypocrite. In 2019 he spoke out aggressively against bringing an impeachment of Trump, though there was a specific charge: refusing to release funds that had been fully appropriated, authorized and allocated and for which issuing the check was a pro forma Treasury Department duty that Trump blocked — holding the funds hostage until Zelensky would agree to manufacture FIBricated “dirt” on Joe Biden. Extortion. Derelection of Duty. Soliciting foreign election interference.
In contrast to the specific “high crimes,” with plenty of evidence, in all previous impeachments, for the first time an “impeachment inquiry” is being authorized with no factual basis, purely as a fishing evidence.
Moreover, Mike Johnson made a big deal about the danger of “single party impeachment,” notwithstanding that there were votes to impeach in the House and convict in the Senate from BOTH PARTIES in both impeachments.
The man leading the Biden impeachment inquiry has apparently engaged in nearly identical behavior that he has hounded the president over.
In a scathing new report, the Associated Press found that a shell company held by the chair of the House Oversight Committee James Comer functioned “in a similarly opaque way” as the Biden family’s own companies.
For months, Comer has harangued the Biden family for leveraging their name to conduct business deals and for using shell companies to cloud their transactions with foreign parties and shady figures, indicting the president’s son Hunter Biden on nine tax charges related to the shell companies.
But a series of interviews and records searches conducted by the AP showed that the Kentucky Republican did something remarkably similar, transferring a six-acre parcel of land co-owned with one of his major campaign donors, Darren Cleary, to a shell company he created in 2017 with his wife.
The property has grown in value since its original purchase, jumping from a valuation of between $50,000 and $100,000 at the time of purchase to between $500,001 and $1 million, according to Comer’s financial statements obtained by the outlet. That flies in the face of not only Comer’s self-purported squeaky-clean reputation but also House rules, which require members of Congress to disclose all assets held by companies worth more than $1,000.
“This is actually a real problem that anti-corruption activists would love to get legislative reform on,” Kathleen Clark, a law professor at Washington University in St. Louis, told the AP. “It is hard to trace assets held in shell companies. His is a good example.”
Last month, Democrats railed on the Kentucky Republican following a Daily Beast report that revealed the first inklings that Comer had engaged in his own shell company, involving intra-family business dealings. At the time, Commer snapped back that it was the kind of thing “only dumb, financially illiterate people pick up on.”
Where’s the beef ? This could be quite embarrassing and damaging to republicans if they do impeach Biden. It’ll be entertaining to see them present their case in a Senate trial with no evidence of a crime by President Biden. Is he being charged with guilt by association with his son Hunter ? This should definitely help bolster Biden’s numbers by the end of the trial should there be one
No one has voted on impeachment. No one is calling for an impeachment vote. All that’s been passed is to inquire about impeachment. Just call witnesses and review facts.
Why are the Dems against finding out the facts? Why do their witnesses showboat and ignore subpoenas?
If the crime isn’t obvious it’s a waste of congressional time to conduct hearings, etc. There are folks whose job it is to investigate crimes. They are called cops, FBI, etc and we pay them to do it. We don’t pay the HofR to try to find guilt on anyone. Their job is to pass laws to make our country run better. That’s what we pay them to do, and there is some guilt involved in refusing to do it.
If they are ever in a position where the evidence to impeach is self evident, I’ll want Joe Biden impeached and or indicted just as much as Trump— for anything he has done personally— relatives who were never elected to anything get their own day in court with whatever proof is available against them. No special treatment for anyone.
However, so far there is no evidence from any legitimate source. I actually heard the quote "AN UNVERIFIED REPORT FROM AN UNDISCLOSED SOURCE” on Fox the other day. They then went into ten minutes of speculation on what could have happened or would happen if the report turned out to be true. By that time, who is going to remember that there was zero proof that it was?
If an inquiry is not an impeachment, what’s the problem. Reason for an inquiry is not a nothing burger, since it now has passed in the House to be done. So what are dems worried about then.
I love watching comer, aka “Pigsqueal McHeeHaw” just keep stepping on rakes and hitting himself in the face.
You gotta love when he said he thinks the trump-appointed special counsel indicted Hunter Biden to protect him, and then threw a high-pitched tantrum after he said Hunter Biden could testify behind closed doors or publicly, and Hunter said, ok, publicly.

Those calling for impeachment of Biden better be sanctioned when it comes to nothing. You can’t make accusations without proof.

Sadly Ron Johnson said just this: We don’t have evidence so “you have to infer wrongdoing.”
