There have been good people in both oligarchies, trying to balance the chaos that is our nation; but they seem like history lesson movies and the audience who should be learning from them are deaf and blind, and will never stop talking. Sort of like O.Henry’s Ransom of Red Chief, as long as tRump id attached nobody wants anything to do with you; and the longer it goes on the stupider it gets!
That’s the thing: republicans don’t seem to realize that all of the criminal investigations and indictments against Trump, are actually attempts to help their party be rid of him. But they’re acting like a cancer patient who actively chooses not to undergo treatment.
Evidently trumps evil eye is very powerful. Strong men who would have no trouble shaming a child.. wither under trump’s stare and turns them into cowering MAGA’s.
Except, the Republican Party is not being held hostage, they just found a leader that lets them be the horrible people they’ve always been.
I don’t care how long you’ve considered yourself a Republican, with them open about who they really are if you still vote Republican, you must be horrible deep down inside.
As irrational, self-destructive behaviors go, this is on a par with abused wives whose husbands regularly beat them but who are too afraid to leave. Their excuse is love, because they won’t admit to being brainwashed or cowardly.
It’s been said that history never repeats itself exactly but that it often rhymes. Here’s the poem I’m fervently hoping for.
Republican Herbert Hoover was elected in 1928 and horribly mismanaged the Great Depression, which began in 1929. As a result, the country elected Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932, and his New Deal began a generation’s worth of the so-called “liberal consensus”, in which government was not only SEEN as but actually WAS the legitimate helper of the citizenry. After WW2 that consensus produced the most prolonged period of widespread peace and prosperity in American history. It was so successful that even Republicans dared not flout it.
