Marm don’t forget to make sure they want a pet. Maybe take the person with you to pick out their pet. Don’t want to have to take the fur baby back because the person is not ready/doesn’t want a living companion. Not saying this to be mean.

Marm has selective hearing; just like most dogs.

The classic, might be a Far Side, what you say and what your dog actually hears: "blah blah blah (dog’s name). Although my guys understand ‘walk’ ‘dinner’ and ‘bedtime’ (they head upstairs to their night spots.

I had a dog that was really smart. I would say “get in back” and she would jump over into the back seat. My friend said she just heard my tone. So I said “eat the cat” and she just looked at me. Another time, my wife I were talking about taking her for a walk. I said I didn’t know where her collar was. She ran into another room and came back with a collar in her mouth! It was the other dog’s though, and didn’t fit her. A for effort, though!

A comment to Marmaduke—shelters and adoption agencies re a wonderful thought. But DO NOT adopt unless you are willing to make a lifelong commitment! I can attest to the trials and tribulations of adopting a twice rejected fur baby. Absolutely heart breaking. I wouldn’t trade her for anything. I only hope that God will let me live to continue giving her the love and life she deserves.
