Trio of facts about sea creatures And the sharks do have sex.

Orcas have escalated. They actually sank a boat a day or two ago.

So, WHITE sharks are sexist misogynists.

Of course.

So… Great white sharks are highly complex AND mindless killers? I mean, for those of us keeping score at home.

I don’t think it’s a new orcas trait. They’ve been doing it at least since the mid 80’s when they attacked and dumped ocean catamarans.

The sharks in Jaws didn’t seem that mindless. Heck, one of them even followed the family from New York to the Caribbean.

Do Lemon Sharks taste good?

As far as Orcas? Humans are incroaching on THEIR territory, so don’t blame the orca. On land people raise hell that deer are in their backyards. WRONG. Humans are in the deer’s backyard. The deer were there long before humans were, humans invaded the deer’s territory.

Orcas are probably highly perturbed off at what we’re doing polluting their home. I don’t blame them.

Crabeater seals are by far the most abundant seal species – according to Wikipedia. I have watched a bunch of nature shows that featured/included seals, and had never heard of crabeater seals before now.

I take it the boat that was bumped by the orca did not win the race. Too bad, it would have added some excitement

Despite having complex social structures, great white sharks are still ruthless killers. Oh wait, lest they get a lawyer and sue me for libel: they have a reputation as ruthless killers.

My wife and I were once in Las Vegas. There is a huge aquarium behind the check in desk at either the Mirage or Treasure Island hotel. I noticed small sharks swimming around. When I asked someone how they kept the sharks from eating all of the other fish in the tank they told me that they feed the all the fish so well that the sharks get plenty to eat and are not hungry.

I was wondering whether they had been affected by Hollywood movies. Also, they have been known to be protective of calves and pregnant mothers. We forget that they do talk to each, both near and far.

A highly social species, it is found in every sea.

Though certain populations are considered under threat,

Its conservation status hasn’t been determined yet.

The orca’s so intelligent, it passes on techniques

For hunting, and each pod may have a different way to speak.

A super apex predator, it preys on great white sharks.

Good thing we all can recognize its dichromatic marks.

OK, they don’t kill humans in the wild, but beware:

They’ve started sinking boats like it’s the hottest new affair.
