People now can exist in an echo chamber which requires no consideration of other perspectives, the only sounds are the ones that reinforce, support and enable the primary perspective. How many people check NPR and Fox? CNN and National Review?
A few days before the election I was at the garage for my safety inspection. I’d brought the NY Times and Dallas newspapers with me to read during the wait. A man in his early 60s came into the waiting area, sat down, and was dismissively looking through the collection of magazines on the table. Since I was reading the Times I offered him my copy of the Dallas Morning News. To my offer he replied that he’d never read any newspaper because they were all liberal tools of the mainstream media and that he got the truth from the internet. As I left I saw the “Make American Great Again” sticker on his 15 year old Subaru.
The venerable media have been around for at least 100 years. Then came fox and its clones pushing lies and rumors… the more outrageous, the more conservatives and magas praise them.
The “purple” line on the graph should be a sharp, straight vertical line, though, in truth, there really is no way to depict the “stupidity” on the Right.
There are some things, like the concept of the square root of minus 1 that truly cannot be visualized…
Critical thinking has been redefined to mean criticizing people for insignificant stuff like wearing a tan suit or having a high strung dog that couldn’t deal with a crowded environment.
When we think of “lizard people”, I believe it natural to think of Newt, the former SSOTH (Slithering Speaker of the House) and Fox “News” Channel contributor.
To SimplyRed. I wish. Unfortunately the more blatant propaganda sources like FOX and Brietbart are very much alive, along with those somewhat less likely to actually make up things, like MSNBC. Critical thinking? Good luck with that. The US education system doesn’t seem to have ever been geared for that. It was originally based on the German system designed to prepare the masses for being useful in the factories. What’s needed there is blind obedience and the ability to do simple tasks repetitively. One reason that people labeled as ADD don’t do so well.
Thank Fox, among a host of other likely contenders (and usual suspects) who got things rolling by obtaining a court verdict stating there was no obligation to tell the truth in its opinion-based “news” casts.

While they all collect their “socialist” welfare, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security checks. Crappy Americans.
