There are two movies that reference sandworms, Dune and Beetlejuice. In Beetlejuice, the mouth looked more like a shark. Now the mouth on Shah-Halud in Dune more closely resembled a mouth on a lamprey or a cookiecutter shark. This worm doesn’t resemble either “worm”.

Maybe it’s a reference to women who wear fox skins attached to one another as a stole or scarf. The first time I saw one when I was a kid I thought it was creepy!

I think it’s a reference to the wizard’s robe being so short that his junk is pepping out, like a little shriveled worm.
