Janis, you stay another week to enjoy the balcony more and help the kids while Arlo checks on Luddie. Get to know the area better. Extend your stay another week or two beyond that, if needed.
Arlo will enjoy his relaxing mornings in the garden you built, and watching TV. Then he’ll miss you.
He’ll remember the difference between you at the house vs the balcony, realize his only ties to the house were you, and it’s not too much work to move to make you happy.
Finally, there is mention of the boat! I don’t think it has come up in conversation for a couple of years now. Since boats require continual maintenance, I assume that Gene and Mary Lou have been attending to it all this time. Otherwise there wouldn’t be much boat left.
I think a condo would be great. Husband and I could go back and forth every 3 or 4 months. He could stay on the homestead while I go to the condo, and then we’ll switch—-and he can go to the condo while I stay Home!
I hope they check out the price of homeowners insurance (not to mention the sky-high condo fees) and are ready for hurricanes. The coast is lovely to visit, but look for a place to buy a few miles inland.

Mary Lou is one smart cookie. No wonder Meg is so cool.

So how many times in this story line have they had this same basic conversation?
Move, don’t move; but it’s time for less talking and more action.

A move of this magnitude requires a lot information and mulling over.

Like someone else mentioned yesterday: Information like category 5. hurricanes

My vote is to move. Although I love the comic, it’s much more interesting with the kids and Pop’s wisdom.

They might need Luddie to cast the deciding vote. How high up is the balcony?

Half measures availed us nothing.

Mary Lou has the idea…moonlight on the balcony!

Other than the hassle of sorting junk you don’t want from junk you do want and moving it, I don’t get the problem.

Sounds like you know what you want to do. You’re not getting any younger. Do it now while it’s easier.

Looks like we need to help Janis get through this dilemma.

Unfortunately we do not have a balcony, so I have to sit on the deck…

They are both just making excuses, there really is no reason other than habit keeping them where they are.

Boats, the two happiest days are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

Keeping a waterfront condo is expensive. Gus is not renting it out so he must have lots of money.

It’s nice to see how much Mary Lou wants them for move in her same town.

Mary Lou is familiar with the boat; she would visit Gene there during his summers working at the old restaurant.

Been living in a condo for 20 years. Just bought a house this week. So looking forward to having my own backyard and no HOA.

From boat to balcony; within Janis beats the heart of a true romantic.
