No joke this is why I stopped wearing white shirts out to dinner, turns out after a certain size food is more likely to land on your stomach than on the table.
As soon as possible use a stain stick on the shirt when food, etc is dropped on it – rub it on over the stain. Works pretty well at keeping stains from setting, so they can be washed out i the laundry. I wash everything in cold water (washer does not even have hot water coming into it). I have saved any number of “favorite shirts” (his or mine).

This Plugger wears an old stained shirt when I cook if grease or spaghetti sauce is involved. Splatters from cooking doesn’t ruin a good shirt.
