I was told four years ago that my stress-free lifestyle had led to a very good blood pressure result. I was told I have “the blood pressure of a teenager”. I mentioned this on one of my Calvin and Hobbes posts and someone replied, “Then you’d better give it back.”
I’m occasionally asked “What do you do now that you’re retired?” My only semi-joking reply is, “I have 2 full time jobs. One is minding my own business which occupies me constantly. The other is doing whatever my wife tells me to do.” I’m pretty good at both jobs.
In the grand scheme of things there are about 8 billion things other people do that are none of my business. I will worry about a much smaller subset of things that do affect my life.
I attended ALAnon for a few years and benefitted from it a great deal. Someone told me that the whole program could be summed up in the phrase "mind your own business! "
I was also told that the more involved you become in other people’s lives, the crazier your life becomes. I have seen proof of that concept time and time again.

I used to know someone who said “That’s not my area of responsibility” which caused him a lot less stress and more peace. That’s a good way to go.

I take multiple doses of stress relief everyday. She’s feline, 12 years old, weighs 13 pounds, and loves to nap in my lap.
