Can someone please help me understand what today’s strip does towards moving this story forward?

We find out Sam digs the boss, ok.

Tracy is meeting Rick from pawn stars, wow what a surprise!

    Today is pure filler.

    “You’re back”?

    Where did Tracy go?

Yesterday he was talking with Sam.

Did he make a visit to the Firestrike lounge, better known as the latrine???

t’s actually “Springsteen,” not “Springstein.” Either Sam doesn’t even know the right name of his favorite singer; TCA deliberately changed the name in an attempt to avoid having to pay a hefty fee to use copyrighted lyrics with permission or a fine for using copyrighted lyrics without permission, or there was sloppy writing on Mike’s part followed by sloppy editing at TCA’s end. Take your choice….

So when he says that John Locher “introduced” Dick to Springsteen, does he mean he actually met Springsteen, or did he just introduce Dick to his music?

Very cool to see the reference to John Locher Springsteen… always a very nice tribute to Dick Lochers’ son. Here’s the first meeting between Tracy & John Locher Springsteen:https://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2016/02/01

    Sam! Stop that, at once!

I never liked Springsteen (or “Springstein”), and even less now that he’s an old guy desperately pretending to be still young (yeah, sure, there are others, too). And I do not want nor need any more crossovers or guest appearances by B-list TV characters in Dick Tracy! What I do want and need is more detective work and demonstration by Tracy that crime does not pay!

When I was young, we had (electric powered) trolley busses on many of the routes in Chicago, and a regular if brief delay was the inevitable going “off the trolley,” when the driver would have to get out, go the back of the bus, and rein in the dual trolley poles and put them back on the wires to complete the circuit.

Sadly, it seems to me that Mike’s writing has gone off the trolley, and no one seems to be resetting it….
