More than a home run today – out of the park.

Carol did hit home with today’s. What do I do with so many memories. I can’t always keep them. What am I doing – giving them to people who will love them. Giving back to children of those who give the things to me to let them know how much I loved their family members and wanted to share the memories with them. Most often they are not aware of how family members had touched others and thanked me.

Excellent strip today Carol. I have a few knickknacks which remind me of my parents as well; some XMas ornaments, a little wind up Christmas organ from circa 1962 that plays “Silent Night” and still works as well as a couple of my Mom’s oil paintings and Dad’s wood carvings. So many things can have sentimental value and bring back vivid memories; they can be almost anything. I think I may break out my old photo albums that I have not looked at in a few years to help me recall and relive some of those fond memories.

Outstanding! At my age I really relate and the feelings are captured perfectly. Unfortunately I have no one to give them to.

We become prisoners of our own stuff. Worst part is we end up passing our sentence on to our children when we die. (yes I’m looking at you mom. It’s been 12 weekends now cleaning out the house, still not done…)

Moving is always traumatic. (A friend once remarked, “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make move.”) Even if you don’t move, decluttering is nearly as traumatic.

We had to declutter in a hurry three years ago when we found an infestation of bedbugs. I threw away a lot of possessions I didn’t really need that held ghosts. Once in a while they come back and haunt my dreams.

Good luck with your move, Ms. Lay. May your new location be congenial and stimulating.

My house is full of ghosts.

I’ve got to retire soon, so i’m looking at downsizing.

I’m not looking forward to deciding what goes into what box.

At 78 I’ve lived in this apartment 24 years. Longer than anywhere else I ever lived in. My next location will be, as my grandma used to say, ‘my permanent location’.

You are so great, Carol, at depicting the human condition .

I read the comics to laugh, sometimes to think and occasionally to find a deeper connection. This page did all three. – Thank you!
