Not Congress. The House of Representatives (who do not represent any others who are not rich and white and pseudo-conservative and nothing that could be called Christian no matter how hard they try). The Senate has a wheel but there are those grabbing at it so hard and so soullessly that no one seems able to avoid the rocks and sandbar that the ship is heading towards

At last count, Mccarthy has lost twelve straight votes. I don’t approve at all of him or his platform, but he is a stubborn son of a biscuit. You almost have to admire that.

Meh. At least the far right-wing contingent in the Republican party are fighting for more power and influence – and McCarthy has already promised to meet some of their demands. Certainly that can’t be said for Democratic “progressives”, who wimped out on “Force The Vote”.

I wonder if all this theater is an attempt to get Democrats to vote for McCarthy to ‘just get it over with.’ If they did, then McCarthy could say he won with bipartisan support. Democrats need to stand firm on this, and not do that. Even though Democrats are resigned to clean up Republican messes, Democrats don’t have to help them out with this mess.

Eventually, those Republicans will give up trying to force the Democrats into voting for McCarthy, and vote for him themself. Especially, if they can get guarantees from McCarthy to help them obstruct justice for the crimes against the USA they have committed.
