For me, it was the perfect time to get my cataracts removed. Had to get them done between mowing and shoveling because you aren’t allowed to do any of that while your eyes are healing. This year, though, the grass has kept on growing so I had to have someone mow for me a couple times. At least we haven’t had any snow here except for a couple of flurries. I am hoping that the snow stays away for another week. By then, I will be allowed to take care of it myself.
The Mason Dixon line states are perfect… Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, etc… just a little snow once and awhile and not brutally hot in the Summer, such as Florida and South Texas.
I don’t like shoveling, so I bought a snowblower that’s way bigger than what I need. It throws snow all the way over our yard and onto the neighbors driveway if I don’t aim the chute correctly. Found that out by accident
When I lived in upstate NY. I used my snow blower more than my lawn mower. Now I live in SW Ohio and I only used my snowblower a handfull of times in 30 years. I used up 3 riding mowers…

Grass mowing is a weekly event in the summer …. Snow removal only when it snows ;-)

And there is still raking between the 2.

… and finished with canning the last fruits and vegetables. A short respite … and then here come next year’s seed catalogs!

I live just far south enough that there’s no snow and just far north enough that the grass goes dormant in winter.

That time is for raking leaves.

Say, Buflogal, are you folks still buried in that lake-effect snow?

But that in-between time is for raking…. Still, autumn is the best… the temperatures are perfect, the air is crisp, and cider!

No grass, no snow. Just leaves, twigs, pine needles and plant-sex leftovers.

Actually there’s two; the one mentioned and the time between shoveling snow and mowing the grass.
