The IRS was limited by cutting their funding for far too long. They ended up going after “low-hanging fruit” by auditing those that didn’t have high-paid accountants and lawyers so they could get some money (much of it from honest mistakes). Gorrell, what cheating have you done on YOUR taxes
Those 70,000 new employees are NOT armed. They are mainly paperpushers and most are to replace those retired and the new retirees over the next 10 years. Does Gorrell never check any of the “facts” he produces?
Gee, little Bobby, maybe the new agents will need arms to defend against RWNJs who are attacking any and all federal employees, with the Trump seal of approval on their actions.
poor bobby is such a liar or just plain stupid ( or both)… more agents mean those who need help with their taxes or get refunds will get them faster…and for those like bobby who are afraid of the irs…quit cheating on your taxes and pay your fair share…..
Gorrell, you’re just irresponsibly wrong and talentless: no wit, no wry observation or caption. You apparently think that tax cheats are just fine? That mega corps can use infrastructure without paying to keep it up and get lots of undeserved tax credits? So very weak, Gorrell…so very weak…
Look at all the good little Marxists and Fascists here hailing the newest addition to oppress the people. Bet a few years ago many of the left wingers distrusted and disliked the IRS as much as their right wing counterparts. And that useful idiot who referred to an exemption from auditing for those making under $400k? Nope, that got voted down by the Democrats. They’re coming after you Buddy.
And all those thinking or saying that these new agents are primarily going after the rich? The fact is that the middle class and poor are five times more likely to be audited than the rich. The rich have CPAs, lawyers and accountants to take care of their financials. Which is one reason I never (nobody should have) bought into the tax fraud claims against President Trump. What? You thought Donald sat down and filed his own returns? Hahahah! Most of the super rich rich have standing orders to err on the side of caution when it comes to deductions anyway.
I’ve been waiting for years for the IRS to give me a simple piece of paper to allow me access to my late husband’s IRA in an investment company. Latest guess, my, lawyer friend says, is January 2023. My husband died in 2015. I doubt I’ll see it by then, unless maybe the new employees take up some of the current burden on IRS workers. Can you imagine working at the IRS? Hard work, probably it great salaries and everyone hates you.

Gorrell and the rest of the republicans/trumpers/libertarians want a free lunch. Be a patriot and pay your taxes.

If everyone of those 70,000 tax persons handled an equal number of taxpayers, each would be responsible for 2117.8 returns. (at least)

Question 1: Does Gorrell make over $400,000 a year?
Question 2: Why?

Because the one thing Gorrell can’t abide is the idea of enforcing the tax code? Hmm…..

Gorrell shows his low regard for ‘the rule of law’ and encourages distrust for America’s institutions!

Interesting how Republicans hate law enforcement.

We’d rather they spend the money on protecting the southern border. Biden will be impeached over his dereliction of duties.

Good grief, hasn’t this stupid story been debunked enough times yet?
Guess not. Like Trump’s ketchup, it has stuck to the wall.

Not that boobby or his trolls are interested in the facts but:
Most hiring will fill gaps in clerical/taxpayer services caused by rethuglican (thanks Yertle Mcconman) over the last 10 years… NOT collection agents.

Armed with what Gorrell? A lead pencil? Don’t let them stick you in the arm and get blood poisoning.

IRS agents are LAW Enforcement.
So this is the new standard.
Trump breaks federals law by keeping Top Secret documents " The FBI are Jack booted Thugs"
Trump breaks US Tax code “the IRS is hiring jack booted thugs”
If Trump shot someone on 6th avenue Gorrell would claim " The NYPD are Jack Booted Thugs"

Try as I may to give the republicans at least a little credit. Bob Gorrell just blew it. There is no such thing as a armed IRS agent.
