An insult to the opening of “Patton”. But then what else would one expect from a “cartoonist” who never had an original thought in his life and who’s sole MO is to denigrate or ridicule anything or anyone of true positive value in futile attempts to elevate himself, and his standing with his amoral and malevolence luhsting followers. (I only post this because it’s true. Doubters need only look at yesterday’s opus for confirmation. Bok out-Goodwined Goodwin with that one. One or two more and he’ll outdo Stiglich and Payne. He might even eclipse oops.)
The other day I Looked into what all this was about. This is all a right wing lie. The IRS needs to replace the significant number of employees that will retire in the next five or six years. They also want to beef up their work force. All this is over a time span of the next ten years. People like Bok here are purposely distorting this to make it seem like the bill is 87000 armed storm troopers NOW when they really want CPAs to replace people leaving. The right is truly shameless and Bok is the worst.
Chippy, they are NOT coming after YOU because you are a comic creator. A misguided, sycophant of a comic creator, but someone who is not making enough money to warrant their interest.
And yes, after starving the IRS of funding for many years, it is good and right to provide funding so they can go after tax cheats. Like Trumps, and Murdochs, and Kochs, and ????
IRS funding in legislation enacted last week is for maintaining staff and upgrading woefully outdated agency computer technology.
There is no language in the bill which mentions funds are included for conservative insurrection forces to attack the US Capitol building, IRS offices, and judges/federal judiciary offices where rulings involving Donald Trump or business enterprises he owns do not go Donald Trump’s way, or any state capitol buildings where Democratic governors hold office, or any other federal or state offices/holders of office whom American conservatives deem worthy of attack attack/injury-damage/execution.
Cancelling political opponents by taking actions which result in their extinction is the Republican way these days, and y’all have a majority of the USSC on your side. But you’re taking a big risk that the US military is unreservedly prepared to back any extreme play you choose to put into effect. Many of them are RWNJ’s just like you, obviously, but are there actually enough who are eager to overturn the US Constitution so as to implement the RWNJ totalitarian dictatorship you so adamantly crave?
Another example of the Right truly being against enforcing laws when those laws might apply to them.
They’re not adding very many agents. But they are improving their customer service, IT infrastructure, turnaround times for tax returns, and ability to audit scofflaws like those being protected by the likes of Bok.

You don’t pay your taxes. How should the government respond?
First, they ask you nicely. If you don’t respond, they send a demand.
If you don’t respond to the demand, they send lawyers.
If you don’t respond to the lawyers, they send armed agents.
Same process if you try to keep classified national security documents at your beach house…

Fun fact: The IRS is much more willing to cut a deal with you than private debt collectors.
