Cute. Second one I’ve seen with that exact theme (though quite different art work). They both reminded me that I’m happy the Kansans voted well and truly.
Much as the politicized evangelical/Catholic subcultures would like it, there is no inherent universal morality. Different religions, societies, and cultures have different moralities. Just as Republican, Independent, and Democratic voters, and gun owners all agree that there should be some regulations to put an end to putting lethal weapons in the hands of irrational, immature, and insane people, as a matter of public policy, so too Republican/Independent/Democratic voters also agree when polled that there should be no absolute ban on abortion which overrides a person’s religious/personal/moral decisions as a matter of policy. It’s not policy, but politics that is preventing the public’s will from being enacted. There are always human, not binary decisions to be made that our irrational broken political system does not consider.
On issue after issue, we are personally more in agreement than our broken disproportionate Congress and courts are. We are besieged by an irrational self-serving political system that no longer serves the will of the people. Our political system has become a barrier to our being humane and rational.
You can bet that the GOP will NEVER allow another plebiscite on abortion. The Kansas GOP is now scrambling to figure out how they can overrule to “Will of the People” that they claim is SO important…don’t forget that #MoscowMitchMcTraitor explicitly invoked that when he was justifying his blockade of Obama filling Scalia’s former seat.
The former con-guy-in-chief energized many people to vote against him in 2020. Hopefully opposition to stands taken by the Repubs will do the same for the 2022 mid-terms.
So this just proves that most republicans and the Supreme Court were right and that that decision was the most democratic in a democratic REPUBLIC where states have rights. Now if the left would be little less extremist with the abortions rights they want you would see more of these. But im sure the second Kansas passes a law for abortions with some common sense and humanity restrictions the left will challenge and then we will be in the same idiotic opportunistic greedy mess
There is no law restricting abortion in Canada. I was curious to see the stats; they are incomplete because not all medical facilities that perform abortions are required to report. If my understanding is correct, those medical facilities that aren’t required to report also typically don’t perform abortions after 21 weeks. Here are the numbers: 8 weeks or less: 4,725; 9-12 weeks: 4,002; 13-16 weeks: 1,278; 17-20 weeks 749; 21+ weeks 652; Unknown 14,815. Unfortunately, there’s no breakdown of cases after 21 weeks. So of the known instances, 11,496 are before 21 weeks and 652 are after 21 weeks. If you add the unknowns to the before 21 weeks numbers (which is probably close, if my understanding is correct), you get 26,311 before 21 weeks and 652 after. It seems that if you leave the decision up to the woman and her doctor, you don’t get a lot of abortions after 21 weeks, and I would bet that a lot of those are medically necessary. My conclusion: there’s no need for restrictive laws.
Each day I open the paper looking for Trumps obit, hoping that is the day that I’ll be singing, “Ding dong the witch is dead…” I’ve re-written the lyrics, which will not pass the moderators.
I think we can be pretty sure that the outcome was not at all what was expected by those putting it on the ballet. It will be interesting to see how the Kansas legislature handles the result. And, it is now probably unlikely it will be on any other state’s ballot – we certainly wouldn’t want the people to have a say – it risks contradicting what the dark money funders want. How very awkward.

The Kansas Legislature is already writing provisions to the law that will bypass the will of the voters and still make abortion very, very, difficult.
