Not enough for banana bread, even though the color is right.

The reason is that no one likes to take the last banana, they leave it for others.

Why does Wally look so spooked? Is there a hidden meaning there that I don’t get?

Pop it in the freezer. When you have a couple, make banana cake.

I guess there’s something going on here that I’m missing … why does Wally seem surprised?

I buy them pretty green and let them ripen on the counter. I prefer them a bit on the green side which to me has the most flavor. My wife prefers them when they start to get a few freckles.

When bananas start to get too ripe, I either mashed them and make banana bread or add a drop or two of lemon juice and freeze them for later. Sometimes, I’ll mash one and add in some ice cream and milk for a quick milkshake.

I live by myself and buy 7 at a time. As soon as they start to spot, I separate them and place them in the fridge. It stops the ripening process. They may turn dark brown by the time I get to the last one, but they are still firm and delicious. I’ve gotten used to them being cold, and I don’t mind.

I used to buy 2 bunches: one is green as possible, but the other almost ripe stage to eat now. My roommates insist on buying bulk bags of 2 or 3 bunches at same degree of ripeness. That way, the grandkids feel justified in throwing everything away after a few days

I peel and freeze them, and then use them to make smoothies. They never go to waste.

It doesn’t matter. No matter how few or how green you buy, the last one will be over-ripe.
