Commemorative plates usually have a warning that they’re not to be used with food. However, I took all the crystal, fancy dinnerware, sterling silverware, etc. that my parents saved for special occasions and am using them now as daily items. If I break one, there are still 5 or 7 or 11 more. Those things aren’t worth much – nobody really wants that stuff anymore. I was offered just melt value for the silverware. The silver plated stuff would bring less than what it cost new 60 years ago.

Commemorative plates should not be used for food. It will tell you that when you buy them. Something to do with the glaze.

Does she not expect him to pull thru or trying to give him a heart attack and ensure that he doesn’t?

Is she trying to finish him off or jolt him awake? Either, I suppose, is better than a permanent vegetative state.

That’s a summary of my grandparents’ marriage. Just trying to outlive one another, to “win”.
