We’re No. 1, We’re No. 1. Many say we’re a number one in a series of things that we aren’t. Then there’s gun deaths.

It is perfectly clear by now that a certain percentage of Americans literally do not care about people dying. To them, whether it’s through gunfire or disease, other peoples’ deaths are simply meaningless.

Highland Park reminds me of a joke* by 60’s comedian Godfrey Cambridge, which I co-opt here and adjust to the topic:

“Keep on shootin’, fools; you’ll shoot yourselves out of your guns”

*His original quip related to the penchant for white folks to acquire the perfect suntan. Thus:

“Keep on tannin’, fool, you’ll tan yourself out of a job.”

6 killed in Highland Park, IL by a rifleman firing on a 4th of July parade. Please, tell us again how much safer we are with semi-automatic rifles in so many people’s hands.

But why do they only count or shock when its 6 ppl in the same place but 21 in the same neighborhood you guys dont bring it up? Again its more a societal problem than a gun problem .

Notice how the whackadoodles who should never been allowed to buy a Super Soaker are getting guns so easily. Notice that the whackadoodles are shooting up neighborhoods, schools, and even 4th of July parades. Notice that the T*rd Reich is still obstructing any and all efforts to use the same gun laws that reduce the amount of gun violence in the rest of the world (and still allows hunters and sport shooters to own firearms BTW). Notice that the Pogue Reich are not the victims of gun violence but are very often the ones committing mass shootings of innocents.

Looking for some kind of bright spot — any kind of bright spot — in the epidemic of mass shootings? Here’s a little glimmer of one. It has finally dragged the Republican Party, kicking and screaming all the way, into acknowledging that perhaps, just maybe, we should be making some effort to address mental health in America. Of course, they’re only doing it as a diversion from really addressing the main problem but, hey, let’s take them at their word and actually improve mental-health care all across the land. At a minimum, it’ll remove one more excuse from their collection of avoidance techniques.

Another cause for celebration by gun violence advocates.

And Eduardo Cruz, et al, will be along soon to tell us that that parade invited being shot up by being in a gun free zone and advertising that no one would be able to shoot back!

We have to HARDEN our parades!!!!!!!!

Every time I suggest the only thing that curtails mass shootings is an assault weapon ban, I’m told there’s no such thing as “assault weapons”. AR-15s are “sporting rifles”. So far, no one has been able to tell me what sport they’re used to play besides civilian massacre.

Part of the blame for the tragedy in Highland Park should go to Clarence Thomas—or, rather, his wife—whose influence swayed the SCOTUS into tossing gun laws!!

BTW, does Illinois have capital punishment? I hope so, and I hope that SOB gets the death penalty!!

There is a heartbreaking story on AOL News about a 2-year old boy wandering alone in the street after both his parents were murdered by that gun-toting lunatic!!

His maternal grandparents are presently caring for the child, but he could be traumatized for many years.
