Medical tourism takes on a whole new meaning. The REAL trouble is that we ALREADY have a health non-system that discriminates based on race and location, and now states are going to be shutting down Planned Parenthood locations where women could go to get plain old examinations (and birth control). Now they won’t be able to do that. I HAD been hoping that the US would achieve first world status in my lifetime. Guess not. (angry/sad)
There are things that the President can do, and there are things that Democratic governors in states with trigger laws can do.
The President, as Commander-in-Chief, can order that all hospitals on federal military bases be opened up to provide civilian access to abortions, as well as use of any other federal properties, even in red states. Clinics could be allowed in national parks; abortion pills could be dispensed at post offices. C’mon, Joe, be creative, be bold, be aggressive.
Democratic governors in states where gerrymandered Republican legislatures have enacted (or preserved very old) trigger laws could simply announce that they will issue pardons for any woman or doctor or clinic employee convicted under any anti-abortion law.
Patience. This last convulsive gasp for validation within christianity has violated the Constitution in ways the Republicans won’t be able to maintain.
Remember the previous time that your individual personal rights as an American were dependent on what state you lived in? They had this thing called the Fugitive Slave Act.
Years ago, I lost any respect I had for the Nobel Peace Prize. Sadly, I now have to add SCOTUS to that list. So much for separation of church and state.
A terrifying thought, which I’ll bet the anti-abortion "law"makers haven’t considered: If someone forces a banned abortion on a woman who doesn’t want and even resists having one, will she be prosecuted for violating the ban?

Last abortion for five states?

Sad that what should be only a medical issue has become a political football.
