Guess what Phil, in higher educated countries (which is most of them) where abortions are legal, they are rare.

Except no one on the “far left” wants abortions to be high in number. They just want them available for women who need or want them. Period.

I cannot imagine that anyone thinks abortion should not be rare. What the folks who Phil’s calling “far left” want is for the CHOICE to be made by the woman. NOT by someone else.

The “Far Right” needs to stay out of other people’s business!!!!!

Repubs have pushed to cut funding to Planned Parenthood for Medicaid services including birth control and pre- and post-natal care. WI Repubs succeeded in blocking the funding and the number of abortions started going UP when they had been trending down.

If you look at the statistics for many (most?) states the crime rate dropped significantly starting around 15 years after they legalised abortion. This suggests that much of the crime is caused by children with no male parental guidance and/or who are treated like cr*p by their parents who never wanted them.

This makes the Republican party the party that births criminals.

Is the next step relieving women from the right to vote?

Ironically, The Far Right IS a philosophical abortion.

Louisiana law states abortion is murder and life begins at conception. Legislation outlawing Plan B and IUD’s for woman is already out there. (Forced removal I suppose)Another bill waiting in the wings outlaws condoms.

If any of the Christian Taliban took notice, they would see that the abortion rate has been declining pretty steadily since about 1981. That was the result of better sex education in schools and improved birth control, both of which the Christian Taliban opposes and has strongly hinted are in their sights after their “victory” over women’s choice. We may well see abortion rates rise again along with the rate of botched back-alley abortions by quacks. The Christian Taliban will have themselves to thank..

Abortions should be considered the same as an amputation.. rare but done when necessary.

There is absolutely no evidence that lefties want abortion to be common. Plenty of evidence that they want unplanned pregnancy to be rare, but the GQP insists on promoting the lie that Planned Parenthood is primarily about providing abortions.

If most Americans want abortion then the majority will vote against republicans.

The Radical Right and the Far Left have one thing in common: a belief in absolutes. Nothing that falls outside the box defined by those absolutes will be allowed.

#BothSidesDont The idea that Democrats want abortions to be commonplace is disgusting. Who champions support for working parents, child care, pre-school and the like? All programs that would support a woman more if she decided to have a child instead of an abortion. Jeez

Actually, there was a compromise – Roe v. Wade. The Right portrays Roe v. Wade as an extreme position, but it really isn’t. Roe v. Wade says that a woman’s right to an abortion is not absolute and that the state has a compelling interest in protecting the life of the mother and fetus. They did not rule on the issue of whether a fetus is a person noting that the Constitution says nothing about that.

They decided that abortions prior to the viability of the fetus – around 26 weeks (although 28 is more in line with doctor’s opinions), should be legal in the US. That seems like a reasonable compromise to me.
