There are a LOT of candidates in our primaries. And I am REALLY missing some form of instant runoff so I could vote my preferences followed by my estimate of probably the best to beat the other person.
We have a Senate Race here in North Carolina. The two Republicans are both running some very poor campaigns. Each accuses the other of being liberal.
One is going “all in” with Trump and it’s difficult to tell that Trump is NOT the candidate. The other has an ad that says Bud is “soft on Putin” like Joe Biden.
There is only one effective ad that I’ve seen and it was produced by the RNC and I can’t recall which candidate, but it uses all the “buzz words:” woke, CRT, open borders, and other “scare tactics.”
The Democrat just states that she’s a judge and what she plans to do. No name calling, no scare tactics. She’ll lose in a landslide. She’s way over the head of most North Carolina voters. Too much class, not enough crass.
The ads have become nothing but smear campaigns and we know nothing about who’s smearing…it’s one scumbag after another, trying to get your vote…..BOO HISS
There’s a guy running for governor in Michigan who is so creepy looking that I have to shut my eyes every time they show his face on TV. And the Dem that’s running a hopeless race for the House doesn’t have a prayer in this gerrymandered district. Sigh.
Not that what >I< think matters (beyond my one vote)…but IMHO, running for any public office has devolved from the desire to serve the public in some capacity, to a sleazy marketing campaign of lies and deceit in order to pursue one’s personal agenda (which is usually some combination of money, power, and posture/publicity/marketing oneself).
Basically where Friedbird waterpistol, patrick murphy, loony squiggles, montana bill, rikitikirussianbot, klemubermoron, ammosexuallydysfunctional, opspecial ed, JAwholikesbluegrass, jane b thinkin’ VERY ignorantlee, 60 rottenbuzzardbrains adhered to a scorching sidewalk, sammy ugly avatar, leonarddonk are heading for their selections………….guys?:
Must be a living room in PA. It’s been getting a little thick on the ground up here – between the McCormick/Oz showdown for the Senate and the battle for the Governorship, the attack ad invective has been pretty heavy.

Right! So they can run out and vote for “Trump”, whether he’s running or not.

Hey, hey, hey, says Satan, I have way more class and dignity in my little finger than the GOP has in ALL its present members.

Usually it’s voting for the best. For Republicans it’s voting for the lesser of two or three evils.

I’m reminded of a proverb I heard as a boy; “Heaven won’t have him, and Hell doesn’t want him.”
