At some point, there will be more people IN the GOP hoosegow than the remaining old white guys outside. And right about that time, they COULD just rise up and take over, right?

—) Maybe with the encouragement of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Elon Musk could buy Disney now, and then gradually proceed to re-make the cartoon classics with a more acceptable Conservative slant. For instance, Peter Pan would be decried as a groomer; Captain Hook a misunderstood Florida developer; and Tinkerbell — well, no need at all to mention “fairies.” (—

DeSantis is obviously aiming for the 2034 Pres. nomination. He’s making big points with the New Republican Party.

Florida and Texas are experiencing the final push in the death throes of the christian Taliban. Forcing children into the tradition of christian hate and ignorance their parents have followed doesn’t work any longer. Members of the christian Taliban know everything they do is unconstitutional, and know everything they have done will be overturned. Children today know the fossils in state and federal legislatures are social and moral aberrations and will make sure their future won’t be ruined by religion.

Seems that GOP lawmakers particularly in Florida would prefer schoolchildren to learn about sex the Old-Fashioned Way: on the streets and by whispered rumours by their peers, rather than in a school setting where questions could be answered properly, and misinformation eliminated.

And as we can see, there are still some trolls here who would support a fascist regime as long as it punished people who they don’t like, or who actually knew things, or taught others things, or who just disagreed with them. DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS, PEOPLE.

If you must respond, please do it as a separate comment rather than a reply, so they don’t get the satisfaction of getting a rise out of others and seeing their post ascend to the top of the list, which is all they really want.

I am sad my father is gone from the world. I am glad I have no reason to go to Florida in the near, or perhaps even distant future.

OK, I’d love to see Disney’s new Star Wars Themed hotel. Will have to do some serious savings for that. But heck, you know, they could likely build something like that in the Chicago area and do very well with it, without the rest of the theme park. ;)

What DeSantis did to Disney is obviously a violation of the First Amendment. But the previous president appointed a lot of people to the bench, some of whom might be in a position to judge this case…in Florida’s favor.

Ironically, if this happens it will be incredibly injurious to Florida. The local communities will have to absorb the costs of police, fire, infrastructure, and much more, plus about $1B in bond debt. And if Disney should decide to relocate, it will decimate Orlando’s economy.

I live in Texas and there seems to be a race to the bottom between Abbott and DeSantis. It’s hard living amongst those who are so stupid, they don’t know they are stupid.
