That would be nice… No, belay that. That would be a good START on justice… but nothing can make what happened “nice”.

I appreciate the sentiment in today’s cartoon, but I take exception to Ukraine being considered a pawn. I see Zelensky as a “king” in his own right. If it comes down to a chess analogy, putin would have one king and 15 queens.

It is, unfortunately way to early to call the game, the eastern front will decide, it is amazing to me that humanity has made it this far, why teach history, no one learns. Tens of thousands dead and once again for one man’s ego.

Russia’s tactical change to putting all emphasis on eastern Ukraine will shorten Russia’s supply lines thus easing Russia’s logistics problems. The Russian goal of making Ukraine a landlocked country will result in a nearly static slugfest. This change greatly favors Russia.

@B 8671- I play chess so to me this is an excellent analogy! It’s pssible because one time I checkmated someone with my two rooks. And that’s after they captured my queen. And I said before that Joe and the Ukraine have to employ a chess type of strategy in dealing with Putin. People who go barrel-assing their way into things, are usually dealt with in this manner. And to me, it’s not so much that the pawn checkmated the king, but rather demonstrating how stupid Putin is. You lose any game by making bad moves and decisions.

Beautiful! Wish I could give it more than one “like”!!! And of course a message using chess as the metaphor (?) should have even more impact on Russia!

It never ceases to amaze me that people get so bent out of shape when viewing a comic that, in the real world, is most likely not feasible and carry on about how that is an impossibility. Comics, for the most part, are exaggerations of life. People, stop trying to psychoanalyze the artist and just enjoy his or her talent.

Just for fun: “Checkmate” comes from the Persian Shach Matee (I have probably mis-spelled) translated: The King is Dead.
