My own experience with most reporters of all stripes over the years is they include only comments and selective facts that support the story they want to write.

Behind lies there is generally religious, political or self-serving economic fanatism.

News is better when appropriately distanced from the profit motive. TV news used to be considered a public service, not a source of significant revenue.

I’d rather the programs provide the news – not try to tell me what to think.

Remember when Dan Rather got fired for reporting that Dubya scammed his way out of serving in Vietnam? He was fired for telling the truth. The respected academic, Kevin Phillips in his book, “American Theocracy”, written prior to Rather’s firing, had at least an entire chapter detailing how Dubya avoided Vietnam. It was exactly what Rather had reported. Mr. Philips’ book provided even more information. The rich look out for each other, America be damned.
