If you rub your hands together, you get warmth. So it’s just a transference of that principle.

I see two bored cavemen in a race to wear down sticks (or smooth down sticks) and one gets fire.

People do things, make observations and learn from them. The latter part is very important.

Perhaps Ogg was attempting to bore a hole in one piece of wood using the other as a drill bit. It could have been an accidental discovery. Those happen a lot in science. You’re looking for one thing and find another. The best scientific discoveries often start with, “That’s odd. I didn’t expect that.”

Ogg was rubbing his woodie and it felt good.. so he, wise man that he was.. wondered how much better it would be if he rubbed real wood.. and rub he did, real hard.. and behold fire was born.
