The COVIDIOT deniers who spent the last two years whining about a “hoax” and repudiating REAL SCIENCE in favor of injecting bleach, hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin (horse de-wormer they stole from Mr Ed) and now PEE, are now suddenly shoving others aside to jump to the front of the line to demand that the SCIENCE THEY HAVE BEEN REJECTING now be given to them. The ones now being denied emergency care because of the COVIDIOT deniers include those who need the ER for heart attacks, strokes, trauma from accidents caused by drunk drivers, etc.
It reminds me of how Trump rudely pushed aside — literally pushed aside — the prime minister of Montenegro, to jump to the front of a photo op.

I have no problem treating anyone in need with the best medical science available IF THERE IS ROOM. But those who denied the science of COVID prevention or refused the minimal safety standards to protect others should be last in line for emergency treatment.
If there is a mass shooting that causes the nearby ER to be overcrowded, and the shooter survives being shot, he should be the last to get treated at that ER. Similarly, those who caused the ER’s to be overcrowded with COVID should be last in line for treatments that became necessary because of their criminal neglect of basic safety standards.
The ones who whined about their “rights” and “freedoms” being abridged by safety standards are the ones whose irresponsibility is what is prolonging the need for those standards.
That particular person who was just denied the transplant “doesn’t believe in vaccination” according to his father. That’s enough reason right there to find a better recipient for any donated heart.
A local health care worker recently excused her antivax stand because the vaccine was ‘experimental’. That goes way beyond willful ignorance to some sort of la-la land.
There must be a book or list somewhere, that outlines the basic moves of a professional con-man.1. Tell your mark they’re being oppressed and cheated.2. Tell them not to trust authority, that they only want to control them.3. Tell them that YOU are the only one that truly cares, and can help them.4. Say you don’t really need the money, but if they don’t mind, it could help.5. Always have a back door, an escape plan, and a good hiding place.
Man denied heart transplant for refusing COVID-19 vaccine
A Boston hospital is defending itself after a man’s family claimed he was denied a new heart for refusing to be vaccinated against COVID-19, saying most transplant programs around the country set similar requirements to improve patients’ chances of survival.
The family of D.J. Ferguson said in a crowdfunding appeal this week that officials at Brigham and Women’s Hospital told the 31-year-old father of two that he was ineligible for the procedure because he hasn’t been vaccinated against the coronavirus.
“Given the shortage of available organs, we do everything we can to ensure that a patient who receives a transplanted organ has the greatest chance of survival,” the hospital said.
Statistically taking Tylenol or Aspirin is far more dangerous the getting the vaccine. Just about all the anti-vaxers will take Tylenol or Aspirin without second thought. So much for doing “their own research”.
A quote from the TV show SCRUBS – Dr Turk who has just kicked a patient off the list for a liver transplant for drinking (strictly forbidden in this case): “My sympathy is with donor”.
Leaving aside the individual case: as far as people falling for con artists (whether political, religious, or psuedo-medical snake oil salesmen) is concerned, an old quote is apt: “You can’t cheat an honest man.” Most victims of con artistry are dishonest at least to some small extent besides being stupid. They want to get away with something.
First, they don’t just have hearts lying around to put in a transplant patient. And there are more people requiring a transplant than donors. And some people will be judged to be more needy than others for medical reasons. So some waiting time is involved. Any heart that has been donated has a very short shelf life before it must be used.
If they did the transplant without vaccination and he died from covid … that’s a waste of a human heart.
And because a transplant patient must be treated with drugs that suppress the body’s immune response, a patient without the vaccination is essentially defenseless against any disease, not just covid and will almost certainly die if a disease like covid is contracted!
That is a lot more certain than his heart getting large as a result of the vaccine.
So no, he should not get a transplant. Simple risk analysis.

The only thing science and religion have in common, is that people love to pick and choose the parts they believe and abide by.

Why give you a new heart? You won’t take any better care of it than you did the last one. We should save it for someone who appreciates it.

There is a lot left out of this story.
