Not calling out what Republicans are and are doing just allows them to think they’re getting away with it. They could always change their behavior, ya know…if they weren’t such gutless wonders.
Every attempt to begin reconciliation with Republicans by Biden and Obama was treated with contempt and derision by Republicans. Biden was kind of a fool to even try to reach out to republicans. If you hold your hand out to a rabid snarling dog, you get bitten. But he remembers the Republican party of the past, so I don’t blame his nostalgic approach too much. But Democrats have to accept that the Republican party of the past that was pro-America and pro-constitution is gone…and it’s not coming back. They have to deal with Republicans on those terms.
The republican Party has to make a choice. They can either be loyal to our Constitution and Country or loyal to Donald Trump, but they cannot be both.
“The violent mob of January 6, 2021, empowered and encouraged by a defeated former president, sought to win through violence what he had lost at the ballot box,” Biden said during a speech in Atlanta pushing for the passage of voting rights legislation.
“That’s why we’re here today: to stand against the forces in America that value power over principle, forces that attempted a coup, a coup against the legally expressed will of the American people by sowing doubt, inventing charges of fraud and seeking to steal the 2020 election from the people,” he continued.

Gorrell thinks that listing insurrectionist, filibustering, racist, anti-vaxxer, Trump Loving, and voter suppressing will make it seem like Biden and the Democrats are being unfair and hyperbolic, but this is the republican party now. It’s Trumps party now.
republicans used to be able to claim they weren’t any of these things, because they were excellent at dog-whistling, but Trump threw away the dog-whistle and replaced it with a bullhorn. and you and 99% of the GOP decided it’s more important to please his base than it is to stand up for ‘conservative values’
Hypocrisy and lies are the default settings, the established standard, and explicit practice of the Republican party. No one should be surprised at this by now. Everyone should be waving placards reading “GOP: lies and hypocrisy—standard practice.” And ignorance, let’s not forget the GOP’s persistently proud ignorance.
Lincoln wanted to unite the country, but the secessionists made that a little difficult. Uniting the country should not mean abandoning fundamental principles.
I fail to see how bipartisanship has helped either the Obama or Biden administrations. Bipartisanship only works if the other team is willing to let it work.
You can’t say he didn’t try. So did Obama. Both of them made the mistake of believing that being “sincere and reasonable” would be effective against malevolent intransigence. Maybe in fairy stories and Sunday School homilies.
Remember, you’re dealing here with a “political party” that even now insists that a violent attack, lasting several hours and injuring dozens of people, on the normal functioning of the federal government in the process of exercising a crucial function in connection with the peaceful transition of power, is a “patriotic demonstration”, festooned (no extra charge) with palpable nonsense (it was antifa, it was BLM rowdies, it was the FBI, and anyway it was just one thing that happened on that day, if it happened at all, which may just be leftie Socialist propaganda. . .).
Fascinating news very recently of Republican agents in five swing states who forged fake affidavits for an “alternative” (namely, phony) slate of Electors voting for the candidate who actually (ahem) LOST the election. You’d think there would be serious consequences for that, especially given theh “law and order” posture of the Trumpican party. I suppose there was some hope that these forgeries, most of which were laughable, would be seen as “proof” that there were “discrepancies” in the College of Electors.
We should unite against all enemies of democracy and truth! This is no time to be a goody-two-shoes moderate, this is a time to grow a spine and stand up to freedom-hating, lie-loving fascist scum.
Biden’s approval ratings have sunk again (now 33% approve, 55% disapprove) but keep talking about Trump, libs. That will save you in the midterms. What a bunch of losers!

And no, Republicans no longer deserve the courtesy of being treated with civility. They show zero of it themselves.
