Reminds me of my Midnight when he caught the possum, and, being a possum, he plopped right over. Midnight was so worried! But also, being a possum, he was ok about 20 minutes later. Midnight actually caught him a couple more times and he took less time to recover each time.
Poor puppy! I know, my mini shar pei, Isabella, saw a dead squirrel and was WRECKED for HOURS!!! (She loves to chase them, but I ensure the squirrel has enough time to get to the tree.) She is a little too human for this cruel world.
I’ve been in this very situation several years ago. My dog and I walking through the woods one cold winter day came across a frozen squirrel in the snow. I sat on a log by the trail and my dog and I held a little “service” for the deceased animal. Sad memories, my dog has passed on too.

Not here it doesn’t. Squirrels are still running around in the trees, and will through the winter.

But you have got to ask yourself what the squirrel was doing outside in the snow…

The sadness of death & loss are reflected in dog’s expression.

I’m starting to be concerned for that dog. Mine would be doing the happy dance with that bit of information!

Pretty quick recovery from two Martins in a row on the 19th and 20th.

How sweet that the doggie cares about the squirrels. I think this is the same doggie that tried to bring a squirrel a sweater a couple years back.

It happens. A longtime friend passed away a couple weeks ago. Would have been a year older now.
