And that’s the basic disconnect right there. For the Reactionaries, a woman is ONLY a baby factory (well, and a house keeper), so in fact what is being depicted here is exactly how they believe: the (eventual) baby is the only thing that matters here. And they BELIEVE that. So they KNOW that the liberals who are trying to pretend that the women should have some say in the matter are simply lying… and the only explanation they can come up with for why they lie is “conspiracy”. It all hangs together perfectly.
Sigh – that is not how a fetus looks. No way is that a 6 week old fetus. You can look it up online, even get actual size at various stages. If the fetus looks like the drawing, what you will likely get is an induced birth. Depending, it gets complicated at that stage. If you must be “pro life” let’s at least agree you are for a living wage, universal health care, decent free schools, and a support system for the family.
A. Your Bible specifically states life begins at birth. B. Abortion is a choice, no one is forcing them except republican politicians on their underage victims. C. Except under medically dire circumstances, no abortions are being performed on anything remotely able to survive on its own or even looking like a human. D. Up to a point, this is no different than a tumor and its removal is even less physically consequential. And finally E. Stop acting like this is something women are doing every couple months just to avoid birth control. This is a hard and often devastating decision, not take lightly. And having a bunch of misogynistic hypocrites pointing fingers and shaming them proves that you don’t care about either the mother or child, just riling up an ignorant base with an “emotionally charged issue” so they don’t see what you are really doing behind their backs.
Yes the hypocrisy of the Republicans its my body and no one can tell me what to do when it comes to the greater good getting a proven vaccine, but when I woman wants to choose about her body they say no. If every Republican would adopt every unwanted child and have free pre and post natal care for mother and child abortion would not be needed, they don’t care about the mother or child after once the pregnancy is confirmed
If we insist that every child be born, then we must assume responsibility for that child—to see that it has safe housing, food to eat, health care, parents who do not have to neglect it because they have to work multiple jobs to provide, and freedom from worrying about being killed while attending school. Take are of those things first.
Women absolutely should have rights over their own bodies and reproductive choices. At some point, however, what’s developing in her uterus is NOT her body, it’s someone else’s body, and no one has a right over someone else’s body and life. We are medically and legally in the process of determining when that point is.
The cartoon is completely dishonest. This is your baby’s body at 25 weeks. That is considered the time of viability, and not the time that women choose to abort. Late abortions are essentially all NOT chosen but forced by medical conditions. At the end of the first trimester, the fetus is about 4 inches long and weighs about 1 ounce.
In the US, women are considered to have the same rights and privileges guaranteed by the constitution. Until a woman gets pregnant: then she becomes a vessel which can no longer be trusted to make decisions. Only others can make their choices for them, and for good reason. It’s no real surprise that almost all of those “others” are men.
According to Adoption.com, almost 450,000 children are in foster care in the US. Over 120,000 are “considered to be waiting children available for adoption”. Ms. Barrett’s assertion that anyone can consider adoption or “safe haven” drop-offs rings hollow; someone on the Supreme Court should know better, and probably does, which makes her statement that much worse.
Look in your local newspaper. Recently, we had a situation where parents left their kids with a known-to-be-sketchy sitter, who took the kids out and had them tattooed. The parents tried to remove the tattoos with knives. These are children who are theoretically wanted children. What kind of life do we want to force unwanted kids to face?
And yet, with all these deserving children available for loving adults, potential parents (and we taxpayers) spend inordinate amounts of funds to find ways to conceive when nature doesn’t cooperate.
None of this makes sense, from a practical point of view.
To answer Robert’s question about 15 weeks, there are several tests that cannot be done until 20 weeks.
To answer Coney-Barrett’s question, there are risks and responsibilities that come with pregnancy. “Just use Safe Haven” is straight out of Handmaid’s Tale.

When’s the last time someone ever asked about the status of a woman’s pregnancy by asking, “How’s your body?”
Folks I know ask, “How’s the baby?”

That’s not a baby, that’s a fetus. AND abortions are rarely allowed when a fetus has reached that level of development. So… how about trying again.
