I see on the BBC site that a UN investigation finds that in Texas and some other states, people with minority ethnicity have been partly disenfranchised.

The GQP was a political party up until Newt or the Ronnie Ray Gun. Then they began their descent into being a party whose platform is “Power to the obscene(ly rich) and ourselves, and the devil take the hindmost!”

In this case, it was indeed self defense. Everyone knows the GQP has gotten so out of touch with voters that they can’t possibly win elections without either cheating or working on behalf of their constituents.

We all know which choice they made.

Well, the toon is correct. If every adult citizen was allowed to vote many republicans would be out of a job, unless it was with the mob.

Republicans cannot win most free and fair elections.

Which is why they hate democracy and want to eliminate it.

“He waved a statute in my face.” Hopefully unlike in Wisconsin he’d have to prove it was self-defence.

A cohort of voters, unhappy with the ’64 Civil Rights Act and the ’65 Voting Rights Act migrated from one party to another in the hope of sustaining their beliefs of whites receiving more privileges/opportunities than blacks and other minorities. As the white birth rate declines and blacks and other minorities are becoming an ever-larger part of the electorate, this cohort has started to panic and overreact … fearful that they will be as badly treated as they have treated minorities.

the initial version at least, of one of the voting rights bills, made it harder for third parties to qualify for matching funds . . .a little hypocrisy from those grandstanding about voting rights . . .. access for third parties should be made easier.

Congress should add a few representatives. . .the number of members has been frozen since the 1920s I believe, when it used to increase with increases of population

Repubs often tout their connection to Thomas Jefferson. Perhaps there could some truth in that as Tom, at one time, put forth the idea that only men with property should be allowed to vote.

“The American fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact. Their newspapers and propaganda carefully cultivate every fissure of disunity .…They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the state and the power of the market simultaneously, they may keep the common man in eternal subjection.”

Vice President Henry A. Wallace, April 9, 1944.

In Scotland, the redcap (or powrie) is a type of malevolent, murderous goblin found in Border folklore. He is said to inhabit ruined castles along the Anglo-Scottish border, especially those that were the scenes of tyranny or wicked deeds and is known for soaking his cap in the blood of his victims.

He is also known as Redcomb, Bloody Cap and MAGAt.
