“If the jury is being told, if the defendant is walking down the sidewalk and doing what he claims he was hired to do and police say, ‘Good thing you’re here,’ is that something influencing the defendant and emboldening him in his behavior? That would be an argument for relevance,” Judge Bruce Schroeder said back in October.

The takeaway of the trial and the whole criminal justice system seems to be it’s OK to kill as long as you 1. get police approval and 2. make damn sure you’re not harming a white supremacist.

Kyle Rittenhouse says he supports Black Lives Matter in first interview since trial: ‘I’m not a racist person’

‘I’m not a racist person, I support the Black Lives Matter movement’

“I’m not a racist person, I support the Black Lives Matter movement, I support peacefully demonstrating. I believe there needs to be change, I believe there’s a lot of prospect to a misconduct – not just in my case but in a lot of cases,” Mr Rittenhouse added in a snippet released shortly after his murder trial came to a close.

The acquittal of the 18-year-old has sparked protests against the criminal justice system, as well as debates on the laws that allow civilians to carry arms.

Dozens of protests took place on Sunday, with demonstrators calling for justice and chanting “Reject Racist Vigilante Terror” and “The Whole System is Guilty”.

Rittenhouse makes mockery of justice system. Then, Proud Boys make mockery of NYPD

Following the not guilty verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse case, video has began to circulate online of several white supremacists celebrating the acquittal. And well, that’s sadly expected following a presidency that championed such hate. But if the Rittenhouse case—which meant little justice for two protesters killed and one injured when the then 17-year-old fired at protesters on Aug. 5,2020 in Kenosha, Wisconsin—wasn’t a clear enough example of the double standard at play when a white man arms himself versus when a Black man even appears to be arming himself, keep reading.

Video seemed to capture members of the far-right white supremacist group the Proud Boys using an emergency exit to avoid paying a subway toll Saturday following a rally in New York City. Some holding flags, at least five of the men passed through an emergency exit gate with not a single cop pictured.

In America, people can’t play outside on their own property for fear of their safety from cartels and traffickers. I’m not talking about the cities where you defunded the police. I’m talking about remote cattle ranches. A place I think every American dreams they could retire one day, on a ranch.— House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy

As a law professor from the University of Wisconsin predicted the day before the verdict was rendered, acquittal was likely. Not because the prosecutor did a bad job, or the facts were in dispute, or the judge or jury were biased, it’s because of the way the law is written. In Wisconsin, the “I was in fear for my life” defense is basically a “get out of jail free” card, even if you showed up armed (doesn’t matter that it was illegally), looking for trouble, and provoking it. And this should come as no great surprise to anyone who’s paid attention to the police’s own justifications for all the people they’ve shot thru the years.

Meanwhile, Black people, who really do have serious reason to fear for their lives, somehow never get excused for the same reason.

I think I’ll just back quietly away and hope the insanity stays in larger cities. And that is “thoughts and prayers” that I can get behind.

I hope everybody got out a big red crayon and circled the date on which Disaster Pumpkin made that claim about shooting somebody on 5th Avenue and not losing a vote because of it, because that may have been the last time he ever told the truth about anything.

No Steve, there was no vigilantism taking place that night.

The justice system worked correctly. The jury did its job correctly.

The law was examined, the FACTS were examined and the result was the ONLY correct outcome.

This trial was not about social justice. It was not about political agendas.

The charges were ridiculous in the face of the very laws they were based on.

No matter what else you may FEEL about the circumstances, the witnesses and the videos make clear the basis of the law.

Each time Rittenhouse shot it was an immediate and direct response to an UNPROVOKED physical attack on his person.

If he was a black recidivist felon and woman beater fleeing the scene of his latest woman pounding in a red SUV who plowed into a bunch of old ladies in a Christmas parade, he would be the next George Floyd.

Andy call it what you want, it was murder. A 17 year old running around carry a lot of ammo, with an assault like rifle, in a different state then his own, driven there by his brian dead mom. Yeah it was self defense alright, because he had his baseball cape on backwards the night of the shooting.

So, the elephant in this particular room is the culture (sic) of the Kenosha PD. It allowed the conditions where an officer saw fit to pump 7 slugs into a man’s back at point-blank range with impunity. It also permitted a gang of vigilantes to roam Kenosha’s streets as a sort of auxiliary, perfectly happy to have this rabble do the PD’s job, to the point of applauding said gang’s presence, rather than clearing the street of EVERYONE- demonstrators, vandals, arsonists, and vigilantes alike.

The Kenosha PD failed on so many fronts.

Anyone who travels (illegally as a minor) to another state armed with an assault-style rifle is actively looking for trouble. Not peace but trouble. Period.

A large group who arm themselves and get together and wave guns at each other are by definition vigilaties no matter which poliltical stipe they show. They provoked attacks just by arming themselves like that.

I wonder what the reaction would be in 1865 if someone were to say that, in 2021, the shooting of a black man was more likely to produce justice in Georgia than in Wisconsin.
