I tried to understand why “Perhaps” would rate higher than “Maybe” – they seem the same. What’s the difference? I said them each – “maybe” and “perhaps” – to myself (with feeling):

“Maybe” came with my eyebrows lowered and my head tilted slightly down.

“Perhaps” came with my eyebrows raised and my head tilted slightly back.

Wish that was an option on customer response surveys. Rating from 1 to whatever is pointless without comments — especially when the subject is an anesthesiologist!

He should have prefaced his opinion with, “Since we are adverse to quibbling, please”.

Opinion polling has gotten more scientific and sophisticated over the decades, but its practitioners still haven’t figure out a way to completely filter out the intentional lies, which pollute responses to such questions as “How many alcoholic drinks do you have in a typical week?” and “Who do you intend to vote for for president?”.

( Around eleven months before the election) “If the election was held tomorrow, who would you vote for ?” (Why, when I had a land line, it ALWAYS went through the answering machine,)
