Mike is so much taller now. Rapidly making the transition into young manhood.

Did Mike just have a growth spurt? I know he’s around 16-17 now but he was about Elly’s height until just now?

I think in the third panel with her long flowing hair, that mom doesn’t look any older than Mike’s high school girlfriend. Mom must be at least one or two years older than her son! Or, those anti aging facial creams in Canada sure work wonders!

On the way home during this New Years Eve, I passed by on the freeway an accident where a passenger car had seemingly rear ended a semi truck. Most tragically, that car was wedged under the semi all the way back to the trunk, and the roof and windows of the car were completely sheared off. There were also two people lying on the pavement. Medical personnel was on scene, but the two were not being treated, as both were completely wrapped in blankets and not moving. So hypothetically speaking, IF Michael had been drinking and driving, that scenario could have been him.

Ahh, the old hug ‘n sniff!

I used it through all of the teenage years, and it worked even when he thought he got smart, with mints and aftershave.

A mother can always tell!

I had a few of those growing up, and even after I grew up if I was home on leave when I was in the Army

Some moms are sneaky, others not so then there is ‘Elle’ ! ! ! !

Just wait for the perfume hug. Okay sonny who is she?

Yup. …and all the other ones to. Though, in truth, the “girl’s perfume on your neck” test is well worth failing.

No you didn’t. You just think you did. And when you’re grown with your own kids you’ll realize how few times you fooled your parents.

my kids and grands quickly figured out that a kiss when they came home late was really me checking for smoking and drinking. didn’t completely stop them but maybe just maybe the did less

Vodka doesn’t leave any breath alcohol, but you still can’t be drunk to fool your mom. Not that I ever was mom.

It would’ve been a lot more interesting if Saint Michael had been arrested for DUI…

So long as you weren’t drinking, Michael, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

At least Michael knew what mom would do and she is satisfied.

I used to stagger into my parents room, drunk, and start telling them what a great night I had!

My Dad used to meet me like that, but he was never in a kissing mood, not sure why.
