That’s what they WANT you to see. But their actual agenda is to take over the government of every state and the nation. And they’re startlingly close to getting there. Scares the pee-waddin out of me, it does.
That’s what they do when they aren’t trying to gerrymander voting districts, disenfranchise voters, and installing judges to ensure they stay in power.
The Republicans are very admired by certain groups that claim to base their beliefs and behaviors on the Bible. That Bible, as they have revised it to justify GOP actions of the last few decades, is slimmer than conventional versions. It has obscured, or even excised the warnings of the prophets and Jesus against hypocrites and false teachers of the law, such as Republicans under Trump have become: the Pharisees of our time.
Even if you consider the Bible merely as a myth-driven history and interpreter of pre-scientific cosmology, one can see its literary value in attempting to define morality in orderly society.
Each culture has its sacred religious texts that do this. The Bible is derivative in many ways of those Mideast texts that preceded it. Even texts then not in its purview, such as those in China, have very similar interpretations of the human condition and the correct ways to guide it. So there must be some commonality toward this at a basic human behavioral level.
I think that every culture has its beginnings rooted in religious philosophy, even powerful cultures and nations of contemporary times. To deny those roots is disingenuous. To think that science, (especially its often wayward bastard, political science) can transplant and trim those roots to bear entirely different fruit is hubris. The fruit might be sweet to some — but lack moral nutrition and rot easily.
It seems to me that Republican leadership is trying to do that now. Trump is their Pharisee leader. When will this “whitened tomb” of a party have its cover tossed aside to reveal the fetid moral corruption within?
GOP To-Do list: 1) destroy democracy, 2) destroy the infrastructure, 3) destroy the economy, 4) destroy millions upon millions of lives of the less-than-ultra-rich.
It’s mostly distraction for what they’re doing behind the scenes. The erosion of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and even the Declaration of Independence. The Rump almost completed their plans for the destruction of the balance of power between the three branches. Their distraction through the use of Goebbles propaganda techniques (especially The Big Lie) has worked as well as it did for the Nazis in the 30’s. They didn’t get the beer hall putsch they wanted on 1/6 at all right because they tried turning it into the burning of the Reichstag as well and even with a side dish of Horst Wessel-type martyr by pure chance – but that was far more complicated and disorganized than they thought. While it provided aGolf Twitler and his crotch goblins a laugh (literally – they even videotaped it) it didn’t give them a Marinus van Der Lubbe to blame, and their martyr wasn’t enough of a victim as she was just another possibly misguided but definitely overzealous thug. Just imagine where we’d be if they’d staged things as a plan over time instead of a one shot, three ring clown show on live TV. Then it becomes a very scary thought, doesn’t it? If the Velveeta Voldemort had more patience and wasn’t such a complete social media attention whore they might have easily done a better job at pulling it off.
It might still be better if R’s did nothing. They are actively killing the country. They deliberately spread rumors that killed thousands of Americans. They disrupt government functioning whenever possible. They create decisive issues where none existed before.
I’ve never voted Republican. But looking back there was a time when I respected the conservative character they seemed to have. Trump seems to have wrecked that entirely, or exposed how unreal that character really was back then. Donald Trump now exemplifies what Republicans are about, and what’s scary to realize is that they may well have been that way all along in modern times (after all, Abraham Lincoln was a Republican most of his life.. these modern times Republicans are worlds away from that kind of person). It appears that Donald Trump has exposed them for what they really are: Crooks. Controlling, anti-freedom loving, wicked little crooks.
The list is undated, it’s always the same. Why tear it out? The GOP might as well print it on toilet paper as a daily reminder. It will give other G.O.P.‘s something to read as Trump drags it around on the bottom of his shoe since he can’t Twitter.
American businesses want to return to the age of the robber barons ( industrial and financial tycoons) who many American politicians supported over the American citizenry and flourished until the great Republican breaker of monopolies, Theodore Roosevelt, became president.
“[Part of a plot] to gain 100% control over the minds of all humanity.”— the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a conspiracy theory shared with colleagues by NH state Rep. Ken Weyler
That is the public list but the shadow list is to take over all government and get rid of all the benefits to the average citizen. I am speaking as a newly partially retired person. They want to do away with or monetize for the hedge fund set – Social Secuity and Medicare. What I will never understand is how many average citizens don’t understand the most of the laws and regulations were created because of malfeasance on the part of individuals and businesses.
Once again, the GOP does nothing for us working Americans. Howevr, when “Chump” was in office, they were quick to approve the tax cuts for the wealthy!!
