I wonder this, in KC at the last Chiefs game here there were about 76,000 fans, 99 percent with no masks, maybe 50% vaccinated, all shouting, breathing in the person’s air next to them, Delta usually spreads quit and shows up quick, but no huge increase in cases, hmmm, weird or what, just wondering by a fellow who thought it too risky to attend the game.
At least it’s Red, White and Blue . . .but so is Russia’s flag, France’s , etc . . . maybe Tennessee needs to use Clorox on their flag and stop drinking it.
Gosh, the covid has its own flag now. Be best have a smaller flag to tell what variant now plagues the country; a cruel threat on you now is “A covid on you,” from a “pox on you”, as we regressed since the medieval age of yore, as ours has variants w/o end.
Those could be pictured COVID viruses — or sprockets and gears that no longer mesh. Those who would divide us have purposely separated the social gear train.
According to the latest from the NPR COVID-19 tracker, Tennessee is in the bottom 10 states for vaccinations: 44.5% fully vaccinated, 52.1% with at least one shot. (By contrast, the top six are all above two-thirds fully vaccinated – 67-69%.)
Remember we need at least 75%, and probably more like 85%, fully vaccinated to achieve herd immunity.
It’s particularly interesting to note that at this stage of the pandemic, it is no longer the (Democratic-leaning) urban centers that are the hardest-hit, as they were at the beginning of the pandemic (due to greater population density combined with more travelers), which caused #45 to think he could just ignore the virus and hope it attacked only Democratic states.
No, now the distribution of COVID-19 tracks closely with Republicans. (In California, it tracks almost perfectly with the pattern of recall votes – votes for recall = more COVID-19 deaths.)
The entire Northeast is at or near two-thirds fully vaccinated – Maine (67.8), NH (61.1%), Vermont (69), Massachusetts (67.4), Connecticut (68), Rhode Island (67.1), New York (62.7), New Jersey (63.6), down into Maryland (63.4). New England alone is about 50% more vaccinated than Tennessee.
And here are the Terrible Ten: West Virginia (40.2), Wyoming (40.8), Idaho (40.9), Alabama (41.6), Mississippi (42.5), ND (43.4), Georgia (44.1), Tennessee (44.5), Louisiana (44.5) Arkansas (44.7).
See the pattern? The next lowest ten include SC, Oklahoma, Missouri, Montana, Indiana, North Carolina, Alaska, Ohio, Utah, and Texas.
Unfortunately, we are not at herd immunity levels at ANY state yet, and the primary reason for this is Republican political nonsense, aided and abetted by FoxNews and other right-wing conspiracy outlets. (Certainly not “news”!) Especially since the politicians and talking heads are all vaccinated!
My right wing friends say the raging Covid epidemic is due to infected latinos pouring over the southern border and spreading the disease. Why is it worse in Florida, Tennessee and Mississippi, while California, which actually shares a border with Mexico, has the nations lowest infection rate?

Try harder TN to volunteer more of your citizens. Your neighbor, MS, has you beat.
