Poor Monty; it’s astonishing how often he gets stranded in the middle of a sand desert. Just really bad luck, I guess.

There’s a Bedouin tribes man with a pair of binoculars on the next sand dune. He bought the sign in a scrap yard and amuses his camel as he chortles at the stupid tourists.

This infrastructure bill has gotten out of hand.

Monty’s got to stop vacationing in The Oregon Sand Dunes National Recreation Area.

That’s the fourth time Monty has passed that sign.

I wonder where that cartoon “crawling through the desert” trope comes from? My guess would be an old movie or something.

I had the misfortune of a trip down the Mass Turnpike in August, on a Friday. Encountered a 5 mile, one hour delay. When we reached the work site, @ 2 o’clock, two guys standing next to a pickup. There was a trooper watching the cones, in case cone thieves might strike.

Next Rest Stop 50 Miles.

Could have been worse. Sign could have said ‘Texas’.

Fake cartoon! In real life he’d have crawled past several miles of orange barrels with nary a worker in site!

Monty lives in New Jersey. Where is there a desert in NJ?

He just needs to find a water pump, like this guy.

Driving my parents through Chicago on a Sunday. Terrific traffic jam on the Interstate. We were sitting for a couple of hours. My parents were thrilled. Coming from the country, they had never encountered a real traffic problem before.

He is hell on trousers.

Maybe this is just Monty’s version of a Death Wish dream.

If he really is awake and in a desert posted with Detour signage, he may be able to survive until Monday’s strip gets posted….
