Invariably when she introduced herself to people, or was introduced to people, as a teacher of the blind they would blurt out “Oh, so you do sign language?”
I know the feeling. I’ve been deaf in one ear since childhood. I have trouble determining the directions of sounds. I dreaded attempts to get me to play “Marco Polo”.
