Like an itch that an octopus can’t scratch?

Maybe the octopus could use the suckers on its tentacles to give itself some relief similar to what scratching does for us.

Otherwise it could just rub up against something.

But it can hold a half-shell at LEAST 8 different ways.

Get a grip, man.

Is Jef’s point that this is backwards? Normally you have an object or situation, and you try to think of a simile to describe it… Maybe it’s more fun this way! (I guess that was self-evident, and I usually deplore people who post to explain the point of a strip, only to destroy my enjoyment of it, but I thought someone else might have a different reaction to this one).

Octopi are tool users. If it has an itch, use a rock or something.
