I’ve always wondered why sports became synonymous with TVs in bars. Not everyone who wants to go to a bar for a drink wants to watch whatever the “big” game is. Why not a bar that features 60s sitcoms? Old movies? Nature shows? Game shows? All would be more interesting to me.

Oh many a peer of England brews
Livelier liquor than the Muse,
And malt does more than Milton can
To justify God’s ways to man.
Ale, man, ale’s the stuff to drink
For fellows whom it hurts to think: . .
