The key words here are lie, lie, and power. Not one word about patriotism or honesty. “Democracy takes at least a little bit of decency.” Something that the QOP has given up on when they joined the cult of Mein Drumpf.
The aide said that guys like me were “in what we call the reality-based community,” which he defined as people who “believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.” I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. “That’s not the way the world really works anymore,” he continued. “We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”
Why would he assume Mitch would want to “turn back”??? (Maybe because he’s already turned his back on honesty, decency, integrity, democracy, his committee chair duties, etc.?)
“One day it will just disappear……………” Before Covid appeared, I thought Trump was capable of doing some pretty despicable stuff, but confess here that I never would have guessed he could have done the “up is down and down is up” thing in the middle of a world pandemic, as he surely did. It’s made me wonder what HE would have done, say, after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Probably nothing, while saying something like this: “One day, just like a miracle, all of those enemy soldiers will just go away.” And more amazing than this, in my imagined scenario here, I’d guess too that all Republicans, citizens and politicians, would stand around and praise his wise strategy, as the Japanese beach landings were taking place on the Pacific coast and the German beach landings were occurring on the Atlantic coast. That’s pretty much what happened with the virus……………………

THE BEST INTERPRETATION of the GOP Leadershit’s increasingly corrupt and corrupting conduct over the decades since World War II. THE ABSOLUTE BEST!
