    This is Henry Payne level Stupid. As if the specific origin of the virus makes any difference to our national response. We had plenty of warning. We had a national plan….until we didn’t.

    I agree with Mr. Goodwyn on this one. But, he doesn’t take the thought to its logical conclusion. It does no good for us on the left to call Republicans things like Nazis. In fact, it is probably counterproductive. That is why it was a bad idea to call it the Wuhan Virus. It was counterproductive. And that does not preclude investigating the origin of the virus.

    Last time I checked, calling Republicans Nazis won them votes while blaming COVID-19 on China caused Asian Americans to be beaten in the streets. Pretty much an apples to Nazis comparison.

    You have to be careful in what you call it because, unfortunately, there are some people who will beat up Chinese Americans when they hear that.

    Trump is not ‘delusional’ it is much worse than that

    “Delusion.” “Off the chart bonkers.” “Insane.” “Objectively nuts.” These are some of the terms that pundits both on the left and on the right are using to describe Donald Trump’s reported belief that he will be “reinstated” as president in August, a belief that is tied to the growing enthusiasm in Q Anon circles for a Myanmar style coup.

    So, no, Trump isn’t going to be reinstated. But he probably doesn’t actually think he will be. (His fellow conspiracy theorists like Sidney Powell will also, when the chips are down, admit that they don’t really believe all the crazy crap they say.) But the purpose of floating that he could be reinstated is not to express a sincerely held belief so much as it is to send a message to his followers and, even more disturbingly, to GOP leadership: He wishes them to ramp up their already alarming attacks on democracy. Trump has already been successful at turning his false claims that the election was stolen from him into a litmus test for Republican politicians. Now he’s upping the ante, using the mainstream media to amplify his message that it’s time to start getting even more aggressive in the fight to end American democracy.

    So while Trump failed at his literal goal of staying in the White House, by every other measure, the January 6 insurrection he incited was a wild success. To be sure, there were a few shaky days right after it happened where many Republican leaders seemed angry with Trump. Soon, however, they fell in line in supporting Trump, covering up for his insurrection, and punishing any Republican leaders who continued to believe that attempting to overthrow the U.S. government is a bad thing to do. And then they weaponized the Big Lie Trump used to incite the insurrection in order to justify state level assaults on voting rights and fair elections.

    DA subpoenas Trump Org controller as Manhattan prosecutors ramp up investigation

    “As prosecutors ramp up their investigation of Donald J. Trump and his family business, the Manhattan district attorney’s office has subpoenaed a senior finance executive at Mr. Trump’s company to testify before a state grand jury, according to people with knowledge of the matter,” The New York Times reported Friday. “The executive, Jeffrey McConney, has long served as the Trump Organization’s controller, making him one of a handful of high-ranking executives to oversee the company’s finances.”

    “The subpoena of Mr. McConney, who has worked at the company for nearly 35 years, suggests that the examination of Mr. Weisselberg’s conduct has reached a new phase, with the grand jury hearing evidence about him,” the newspaper noted. “Under state law, witnesses such as Mr. McConney who appear before the grand jury are granted immunity on the subject of their testimony. They cannot exercise their Fifth Amendment right to refuse to answer questions on the grounds that they might incriminate themselves. (If they lie, they still can be prosecuted for perjury.)”

    Crybaby Trump’s Bizarre, Incoherent Response to Facebook’s Two Year Suspension

    Says Big Lie Trump:

    “Facebook’s ruling is an insult to the record-setting 75M people, plus many others, who voted for us in the 2020 Rigged Presidential Election. They shouldn’t be allowed to get away with this censoring and silencing, and ultimately, we will win. Our Country can’t take this abuse anymore!”

    Says Fascist Facebook:

    “‘Given the gravity of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump’s suspension, we believe his actions constituted a severe violation of our rules which merit the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols,’ Facebook’s head of global affairs Nick Clegg said in the post.”

    Abramson: “Reinstatement in August” is Trump’s Plan to Head Off Indictment

    Trump is talking about an August return to the White House because he thinks he’ll be indicted soon. As a Trump biographer, I can say this is the thinking most in line with his history. He’s setting the table to try to forestall an indictment with the implicit threat of violence.

    @SethAbramson·Jun 3

    Trump believes that if he can whip his supporters into a frenzy this summer via rallies, the Big Lie, and a false belief that he’s about to be reinstalled in the White House, it somehow decreases the ease with which authorities can indict, prosecute, and ultimately imprison him.

    @SethAbramson·Jun 3

    Malignant narcissistic sociopathic would-be strongmen always act this way. When they finally face accountability, they ramp up the threat of violence significantly by ramping up the anger and paranoia of their supporters. Trump is no different from Saddam Hussein in this respect.

    ‘Enraged’ Trump still has a ‘dangerous hold’ on the GOP — but his aides are tired of his conspiracy theories

    “Some of his aides are not eager to engage with him on his conspiracy theories and would like to see him press a forward-looking agenda that could help Republicans in 2022,” reported Annie Karni and Maggie Haberman. “People in his circle joke that the most senior adviser to the former leader of the free world is Christina Bobb, a correspondent with the far-right, eternally pro-Trump One America News Network, whom he consults regularly for information about the Arizona election audit.”

    The flip side is that Trump himself has grown angry with his closest aides.

    “Both of his 2020 campaign managers, Bill Stepien and Brad Parscale, are on Mr. Trump’s payroll and still involved in his world. But Mr. Trump is episodically enraged with most members of his team,” said the report. “This time around, Jared Kushner, his son-in-law who oversaw his 2020 campaign operation, has mostly dropped out, telling the small circle of advisers around the ex-president that he wants to focus on writing his book and establishing a simpler relationship with Mr. Trump, where he is just a son-in-law. Donald Trump Jr. has stepped in as the most politically involved family member in his father’s life.”

    According to the report, Trump plans to use his speech in North Carolina on Saturday night to attack Dr. Fauci, among other things — but some aides are terrified of what will happen if he uses his speech to attack the 2020 election, or even push the QAnon conspiracy theory that he will be “reinstated.”

    Roger Stone claims Steve Bannon blackmailed Trump to receive his pardon

    ‘Come on, sloppy Steve. We can find you a suit and tie that is clean, I think, and you should come on Infowars and answer what I just said,’ Roger Stone says

    Speaking to InfoWars, Mr Stone said: “Steve Bannon publicly accused the president of having Alzheimer’s, he said the Trump Organization was a criminal enterprise, he said that Trump would be prosecuted.

    “I could do this almost verbatim: ‘When the American people learn he’s not a billionaire, he’s just another scumbag’,” Mr Stone quoted Mr Bannon as saying.

    “His defenders say ‘oh well, that was two years ago’ – doesn’t matter when it was,” Mr Stone added.

    When asked why Mr Trump gave Mr Bannon a pardon, Mr Stone said: “I think he was blackmailed, that’s what I think.”

    Like all Trump Disciples, Goodwyn demands that the Jan.6 insurrection NOT be investigated.

    And again, like all Trump Disciples, Goodwyn has severe limits on what areas of truth he wants to know about.

    This toon is too funny, people behave the same in expressing their bias or opinion and bigoted name calling of others they dislike, no matter the party affiliation. Both sides do it. The comments alone for this toon are some good examples.
