My wife’s favourite recipe was called ‘something quick’.
Preparation involved, reading the heating instructions, heating oven to the right temperature, piercing the film lid, then putting it in and setting a timer.
She’d happily eat that for every dinner of the week.
They must have seen The Breakfast Club, when the oddball girl, Allison, puts Captain Crunch in her sandwich. Or Benny And Joon, when Joon puts Captain Crunch in the blender.
Some other possible theme songs many will know or be able to bumble their way through: “Gilligan’s Island”, “Green Acres”, “Petticoat Junction”, “The Brady Bunch”, “The Flintstones”, “The Jetsons”
(Well, now it’s time to say goodby to Jed and all his kin. We would like to thank you folks for kindly droppin’ in. You’re all invited back next week to this locality, to have a heapin’ helpin’ of their hospitality
Hillbilly that is. Set a spell, Take your shoes off.
Back in 96, when we first went to Bosnia, I was flying crew in EH-60 helicopters. My unit got invited to the the Nord Pole Brigade (which was made up of NATO units from Scandinavian countries) for a picnic.
Turns out that it was Danish Flag Day (June 15th) Apparently the Danish Flag “fell from the sky” during a battle and inspired the Danes to win. Huzzah!
Anyway, all the Danes and soldiers from other countries, they got together and started singing folk songs from their cultures.
Then it came our turn. The Americans. None of really knew any “folk” songs. Heck, the foreigners knew more American folk songs than we did.
So what did we sing? You guessed it.
The Brady Bunch theme. Gilligan’s Island. And, of course, The Beverly Hillbillies.
In my household – my wife and stepdaughter seem to watch an unending number of cooking shows, all seemingly related back to The Great British Baking Show. (If you know it, there are spin offs by one of the contestant’s Nadia) There are also piles of cookbooks around. All of which advocate for how easy it is to make stuff … that still seems to take hours and turn the kitchen into a disaster. Usually tasty though!
It seems like some people are seeing a different strip than I am. This is supposed to be a “Brewster Rockit” strip, but many of us are viewing a “Plugger” strip. Still others are commenting on recipes and cooking, so I’m guessing they see something else entirely. Wasn’t there a movie plot akin to this? ;-)

I will be interested to see if this is the actual plugger comic on June 19th.

I know most of the lyrics, but the middle section tends to throw me. Maybe I’m a semi-plugger, whatever that is.

Anyone else notice that the Pluggers cartoon is for 6/19 and today is 6/14?

I am seeing a “Plugger” strip, if anyone at GoComics is interested. But I came here for Brewster Rockit.

Apparently this is the comic that is supposed to be here today, sans color.
