The French do have some of the best cheeses. Actually, now that I think about it, I can totally see Spud as a successful cheese monger. He should probable study Italian as well.

I love doing that… I’ve lived in France for almost 18 years… When I overhear a group of French slagging off the British (not too often and usually students)… I lean across and in my perfect English accent I advise them "Attention… Il y a beaucoup d’Anglais qui comprennent le Français

Perhaps they don’t like Spud because of his comments about mimes.

I’m thinking Spud has a better chance for fluency with Pig Latin.

Considering they live in New England, he is probably referring to the French Canadians.

A wise observation Spud.. but in fairness they don’t care about anyone but their own kind when it comes to language.

A friend and her family went on a trip through Québec and got lost. They stopped to ask for directions from two guys at the side of the road and one told the other in French how he was going to get them really lost. Then in English he gave my friends father directions and my friend in perfect French thank him and asked for proper directions. She said the guy was so surprised he stammered through the true directions (but just to be sure they double checked when they found a gas station)
